I was browsing through the deals on Steam last night and I came across a game called Jamestown. I ended up playing it for a few hours last night and I thought that TNL would have some people that would embrace it. It's a really neat bullet-hell shooter with an odd 1619 British/Mars frontier theme. It's a looker too, since it's sprite-work and effects are so well done. It's on sale this week for 8.99 so get it while it's hot!
This definitely needed its own thread. It was mentioned briefly in the PC and Haul threads, but too many people are missing it. I loved what I played last night.
Wow, I didn't even know this was out yet. And I got paid today. I loved the idea of the setting and was sold on it instantly. I'm crazy excited to pick this up now. Thanks gents!
BTW the Charge Ship is fucking awesome. Just so you know which one to buy.
Thanks. I'm trying to buy it off of Steam, but I keep getting a purchasing error, even though all my credentials are fine. I hope it gets fixed soon, I'd like to try this.

No one's really mentioned how rich the music is either, I love it. There's some things in the game I feel are winks to olden shooters. The game's art style and font when picking up coins and gears reminds me a bit of Progear no Arashi (at least, the grittiness of it) and the Laser for the first ship looks like they borrowed some artistic pointers from Dodonpachi's laser. All awesome.
Q: How the hell do you even use the bomber ship? Charge ship is ballin', mind you.
Bomber ship is Dan-tier. If it isn't meant to be a joke ship, it needs some serious buffing. The idea is to detonate all of your onscreen bullets but it just doesn't work because the bullets don't pass through enemies, which means that you'll hit a larger enemy with one or two exploding bullets, at most.
It would make a lot more sense if the bullets were waaaaaay slower or stuck to things or something. Even holding down the explode button only barely does any damage to the bigger dudes. Don't get it.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. I like the mini-challenges, especially the ones that also teach out how to maximize your score in certain levels.
