These things aren't chosen at random. Look at the numbers on the smash entrants. It's going to bring in way more money to EVO and way more viewers to the streams. KOF was dead at Evo 2014... I think it was even boycotted from some of the scene. The KOF EVO 2013 champ didn't even show up to 2014. There is also no KOF national tournament scene and little interest from potential viewers.
It does suck that they chose Persona Arena over Blazblue because last years BB was amazing.
