Thanks, and that does seem interesting but a bit limited.
Basically, I want a kind of Nethack out of this or that other game.
I just want to start at the top and keep going down and down and keep finding tougher enemies with each descent.

I just updated it before i tried getting synergies.i can't check on anything right now, on my way home from doing a Cleveland job. Ill check later
indee, i am using torchligt 1.21.2.1
and synergies 1.44, still crashes on start up. no errors, it just doesnt load and the crash report comes up. im at a loss
I wish I knew what to tell you, that's an odd glitch and I don't see anyone else mentioning it. Out of curiousity, how much RAM do you have?
One other thing to try: Go to C: \Users\username\Documents\My Games\Runic Games and move the Torchlight 2 folder somewhere else (keep it because it contains your save files) and see if it boots up. If it does, try moving your save folder back into there and see if that works.I poked around and couldn't find anything, but apparently the first game has that (I never got that far). I would imagine that whenever the real mod tools actually get released this would become a real thing, as right now the TL2 mods are just modified game files that get automatically loaded.
I bought this game a while ago for $7 through a sale on Gamefly. It's nice to have this to play with my wife and in-law. After mentioning this to one of my main D3 pals, he tried this out and now we've moved to this game for our primary activity.
The Gamefly sale is gone but there is a sale on it through Steam now - 1 for $10 or the 4 pack for $30, and the sale coincides with the new Steam Workshop front end and game patch which were both released yesterday.
Runic Patch notes:
The Steam Workshop front end allows you to manage mods, by controlling which mods load (and the order of loading) before the start of the game, or to play the game without any enabled.Quote:
New Content
New Unique and Legendary weapons for every item class

Bugfixes
Socketable-granted DOT effects now get character damage bonuses from focus and items
Fixed issue where Reflection would change your target while fishing, which would leave you in a bad state
Various protections to prevent poorly formed mods
Other minor fixes
On the subject of mods, SynergiesMOD is nice if you're playing solo, but playing it with other players becomes a real drag once you get to three players or more. The Low Population version of the mod is preferable if you're playing this game with others.
