That is a hell of a trailer.
Shame they're ignoring Army of Darkness.
Who says? Ash can just as easily have a metal hand in his trailer.
yeah. He some how built one ye ole'n days. He could build another now.
Wouldn't be TNL if we didn't make assumptions about a game, movie or show based on a minute long trailer.
Looks fucking rad as fuck though.
That.... Actually looks really good.
I can't effin' wait!
For fun, what is everyone's favorite movie in the series?
Ok, so they aren't explicitly ignoring it, but they're not really referencing it either.
Quote:
Speaking with a group of reporters, the three offered some surprising details of the upcoming half-hour Starz horror-comedy, including that the story will diverge somewhat from trilogy closer Army of Darkness, keeping a loose continuity to draw new viewers to the franchise. We’ll pick up with Ash 30 years after the events of Evil Dead 2, but return to a somewhat smaller scale.
Says Tapert of the show’s context:
[Ash Vs. Evil Dead] doesn’t really exist in the exact same universe. It’s a slightly altered universe. It takes place somewhere in an alternate universe after Evil Dead 2. That might seem like a confusing answer. I don’t want to spoil too much for the audience, but that’s the truest answer I can give. We would be seeing similar locations, meaning it lives in a modern day world with Ash battling evil in this era, the modern day. Ash went through that [Army of Darkness] experience, but we’re not really referencing it in terms of we’re not referencing specifics from that, but he certainly has that in his memory.

Army of Darkness- it didn't not happen but it won't ever be mentioned. Simple?
Yup, Army of Darkness happened, they're just keeping it simple for the casual viewers.
I'm sure if the show goes on for long enough we'll have an Army of Darkness setting. That book ain't just gonna sit there.
Love the trailer. Totally pumped for this. Looks like the Evil Dead 4 I always wanted! I hope the TV format works. Does anyone know how long the episodes are and how many?
It's probably 10 episodes, I can't recall seeing anything about episode length though.
10 episodes, 30 minutes each.
First four minutes. I don't want to judge the entire series based on a snippet, but this looks terrible.
If there's one thing the Evil Dead movies had going for them, it was the lack of bathroom sex scenes.
it's pretty good
Horrible start. Hopefully it gets better.
Yeah that was a meh first ep
Tough crowd, I thought it was a lot of fun.
it was they just think their opinions mean something
It shows potential but the first ep was meh.
This should've happened 20 years ago, maybe 10 at the most recent. Turns out the whole "charming asshole" routine is just depressing when the guy doing it probably has grandkids.
Yeah. I watched it last night and Steph was not impressed. Granted she didn't see the originals growing up, but they'll have to get more of an audience then "us".
This was just like Army of Darkness! Of course it's not as great as we thought it was. What the hell were people expecting? My wife also hated it.lol.
Unless the other episodes are free on Starz Play this will be my first and last Ep. :(
Finally caught the whole season. Fucking amazing.
A lot of great stuff. Too bad Amanda was a complete waste, they dropped the ball with her character.
Agreed. The very end wasn't so great either. I know it's typical Ash but it was pretty weak. They missed a huge opportunity to send them back to the Primitives again.
Three episodes into season 2, it is fucking insane. They write down the craziest thing they can think of and film it. The coroner's office in episode 2 is one for the record books. I don't want to even hint at what happens so you can see it raw.
I couldn’t find the thread but I’m just about to finish season one of AvED on Netflix and this shit is incredible.
Finally got around to watching season 2 last week. Liked it even more than the first. Can't wait to see what they do with the third.
I'll be so happy if this gets a third season.
Season 3 has been confirmed for a while now.

Awesome. I still need to watch season 2.
Kinda related, but some schmuck found several cases of brand new Evil Dead 1 laserdiscs and put them on eBay. Got one for $20.
Watched the first couple episodes, and this is a lot of fun. Liking all the practical effects.
I think you'll enjoy the episode where they go to the diner.
I have that one!
That was inevitable.
I like the show, but it's on a terrible network.
I'm sure it could have survived on Netflix.
Ditto for Blunt Talk.
I've never even heard of that, but the premise sounds interesting.
I'd be really surprised if a streaming service didn't jump on it.
I'm also surprised that I don't really need more than five hours of Evil Dead anything in my life, turns out I'm pretty ok with just the movies.
Earlier seasons are on Netflix, so there's always hope.
Season 3 went up on Netflix and it was a lot of fun. It looks like they spent a small fortune on it, there are some crazy effects in every episode and the finale is epic. Fun show, since BC is retiring as Ash I'd be curious to see what they do with the Evil Dead from here.
Just finished it today too. Kinda bummed there’s no more. Getting cancelled on a cliffhanger is some bullshit. Though apocalypse Ash isn’t really something I’m interested in. I kinda wish they sent him back to have round two with the Primitives. Game of Ash could’ve been great.
I still haven't gotten through season 3. I really enjoyed the first two seasons but after the showrunner got kicked out and they re-shot the end of the season 2 finale (which now makes no sense), the plot/tone of the show noticeably changed and I found myself not enjoying it nearly as much. The humor also suddenly got super-cringey as well, like when Ash was attacked by goofy flying band instruments at the high school (as opposed to when Ash literally got his head shoved up a corpse's asshole in season 2, I KNOW, but it's all in the execution).
I keep hearing that season 3 starts out rough (it did) but steadily improves as it goes on, but I'm really finding the show to be a bit of a slog at the moment and I often just forget about it for extended periods.
There are interviews out there detailing the behind-the-scene issues and the plotline the original showrunner was going to go with for season 3 before the shake-up. I'm actually pissed off knowing what could have been.
