If I made something that was informative on how to fix something, I'd be a manufacturer of instruction.
I know I probably sound crazy to you guys, but this is a real concern.

Aspies gonna asp.
I mean, I tell someone on my blog to put a pan on high heat and they get burned.
I get sued?
probably not, because a minor burn isn't worth paying a lawyer
(kind of funny that you are giving me grief over this, when you, specifically, have not taken my suggestions on learning to fix things because you could get seriously hurt)
Anything I do, I do with knowledge of the consequences.
And it's not really about the dangers, it's about only having a passing interest in it (electronics). More specifically, I just don't want to learn how to do the work on an amp - I do want to learn how to put together an arcade controller. Selective interest.
Also: Don't assume a cooking related injury is limited to minor burns - I should have gone to the hospital a half dozen times from injuries on the job. I just didn't go.
I like DIY shit but I can't bother to learn the fundamentals of everything before I do stuff. I just don't have time.
I usually wind up learning that shit on the way anyway, by making mistakes.
So I should take the advice of a person that probably doesn't believe in lawsuits on principle, about putting something out into a society that loves law suits?
That isn't what you said at the time.
Well, if you have someone working under you that takes a serious injury, and it is due to something you told them to do, or something you did or had someone do as maintainence, you can be taken to court. And if it can be proven that most people in your profession work to a higher standard that you did not meet, or it wasn't resonable for your employee to know better due to training or industry standards, you would lose the case.
which is really the issue of me explaining anything that runs off of 120vac or is mechanical with enough torque to break a hand. There isn't an obvious level of "common sense" or "common knowledge" in the year 2011 in regards to those things. Most people's experience is with things running off of 5Vdc at very low currents.
Why did I say that about amps? I remember saying it, but I don't remember why the comparison was made.
Because they are potentially dangerous. It depends on the point we were discussing. And I'm not searching that whole thread for that post.
But honestly, regardless of why I might have made that comment (perhaps to Just Not Argue With Cheeks?) you live a scared existence and you should stop.
You asked a question. I gave you an answer and was all "btw, you could read up and do a lot of the work yourself" and you were like, "nah, I don't want to invest the time" and I was like "well its not a lot of time, and its no harder than a car, really" and you were all like "but cars and amps are complicated and dangerous" and then I was like "word, that is true" Then like, a T-rex came in and he wanted some tea. And I was like "fuck you T-rex, that is my tea." But he made a very sound argument for his consumption of earl gray, so I made him some tea. But I drew the line at my tea cakes. Bitch would have eaten them all.
Yeah. I don't want my actions to lead to the death of others and a loss in my coffers. How pathetic of me.
ANYWAY, original point, I don't feel like writing a big stupid disclaimer, and learning flash and illustrator, so it hasn't gotten done.
in before hypocritical lazy people tell me to not be lazy
Why do you have to learn Flash and Illustrator? Stop making up reasons not to do things for yourself.
Because I want to draw mock ups of the mechanics of things, then animated how they interact with each other. Flash and illustrator is one way to do that. I'm sure there are other ways, but I don't know how to use those either.
Which is part of the blog I'd like to make. Without those qualities, I don't care anything about making it.
I'm not interested in taking pictures of doing things and then writing out poorly written paragraphs.
It would be pretty obvious why I wanted to use them if you had looked at the secretlifeofmachines link I posted. I don't know why you people bother to come up with such strong opinions about what I do and do not do if you are going to only half heartily pay attention to what you have such strong opinions about.
So, I should let you make up reasons for me to not learn flash or illustrator?
