Because when gamestop did it before (persona games, mega man collections), they didn't up the used price to almost 2X the MSRP.
Shit was $20-30. Often quite a bit less than the eBay norm.
Now, Gamestop has done the smart thing and said "fuck you ebay flippers, we are going to sell this shit for what it's been selling for. Sorry, we are going to be the ones profiting this time."
Is it shitty? I don't think so.
The only people who are pissed off are the ones that hoped to one day get the game for peanuts or the ones who were looking for a quick flip.
Today's lesson is, you snooze, you lose.
But not really. I often wait for games to hit rock bottom prices before I buy them, because they usually will. Even though I paid full price for Xenoblade Chronicles, that was because I wanted to send a message that nintendo should bring over these games. But on the whole, I save a lot of money waiting for things to hit $20. More than enough to make up for the couple of games that never do and end up getting expensive. 10 $20 games + 2 $100 games is cheaper than 12 $60 games.
If you know how to work the system, you can get this $90 game for $68. That's not a bad price for something that a few months ago was fetching almost twice that.
