Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii / "New" 3DS / Nintendo Switch)

Though that seems like it brings a whole new angle to go at Gamestop with.
If printing these games and taking the wrap off makes them used, then why doesn't taking the wrap off of every other game in their inventory make those games used?
I had a bitch of a time finding Dragon's Crown for Vita this weekend.
One store showed that they had one new copy in stock. Yet the clerk couldn't find it anywhere.
Eventually, it was discovered that the lone new copy had been "checked out" by an employee the night before.
That's the shit people should be bitching about.

People did bitch about that, that sort of thing was part of the initial round of complaints about GameStop gutting games as new. It's just been a long time. Pretty sure we had some long discussions about it here on TNL years ago.

I do agree in the sense that automatically tearing off the shrinkwrap helps kill the resellers over the people that actually want to play, but I don't know if this is best way to handle the situation overall. Oh well, guess we'll see how it pans out over time.

I didn't mean to suggest the gutted-games-aren't-new debate is a new thing.
I meant that if these are truly reprints, and gamestop has gutted them and called them used, then THAT is the new angle to the old debate.

Yeah, "honest" doesn't fit the situation in any way. And saying EVERY SINGLE PERSON who would buy the game at $50 is flipping it is bullshit. The game was originally released with little hype ( totally blame Nintendo ), received amazing press and was gone in a flash. Yes honestly everyone purchasing it is thinking the $100 that it would no longer be worth if Game Stop did ample reprints and wasn't trying to find couch change before their business model dies in 5 years.

c'mon dude, anyone who was remotely into jrpgs knew all about xenoblade. Nintendo didn't need to hype the game. The internet was doing it for them. For two years prior to its US release.
It wasn't "gone in a flash" either. For months and months, every gamestop around here had multiple copies. Sorry it didn't rot on their shelves for years and years and drop to $.99 so that joe cheapskate could pick it up (a lot of joes in this world), but it was widely available for the better part of a year. Anyone who really wanted it, had their chance to get it.

I see the same dumb attitude towards shit like Earthbound these days.
I literally had a longtime customer come in today and ask if we had it. Told him sorry, no. it's pretty hard to get these days.
He said he would pay $500 for a complete copy.
This is the same guy who said we were ripoffs 4 years ago for trying to sell a complete copy for $100.

People only want this shit because they can't have it.
There are other ways to play this game if someone really just wanted to play it in 2013.

Anyone who cares enough to be outraged by this knew of the existence of Xenoblade last year when copies were readily available.

And most of those people have been burned by missing out on a game only to see the price shoot up.
