So this comes out in 2 weeks and there's really no thread yet?
The demo's out, and this is a bit more interesting than the God of War clone I expected it would be. It's actually closer to a hybrid of Gears of War and Dynasty Warriors. There's no cover system, but it controls like a typical third-person shooter, except with powerful melee attacks and dozens of enemies on screen that swarm from every direction. There's no regenerating health, you have to stun and execute enemies to regain health.
All told, there's a lot of potential here. Relic has done some pretty great games with the franchise already, and while this is pretty different from those it's a good application of the IP and an interesting game so far.

Every time Relic announces a new game that isn't Homeworld, I die a little.
I'll try the demo. Didn't know that it was available to non-preorders.

I got this back in June when I signed up for OnLive and am really excited to finally get my hands on it. If anything, it'll be a mindless fun 3rd person action game, and I like that.

I'm wary because of the melee nature, but I'm certainly interested enough to check out reviews and impressions when it hits.

Definitely will be checking this out, as I love WH universe, and this looks like solid action fun.

I've been waiting for a game like this in the Warhammer 40k universe for awhile. I really enjoyed the demo.

Im not a fan of the Ultramarines. I am happy that the main dude is Titus, from the ultramarine novels. Nice bit of tie in. Id like to see a stealth action game where you play as an inquisitor. lot of different things can be done with warhammer 40k stuff besides rts and super bang bang.

They should adapt Space Hulk to XBLA. (That's the only Warhammer thing I'm really familiar with, but whoamg is it awesome. Look up my posts about it in the board games thread if you want to know more.)

The old DOS Space Hulk game was great.

I have been pleasantly suprised by the demo. Its odd because this is one of those games where there isnt really a "hook". Its a game where there are a bunch of different elements that you have seen before. Third person combat, first person shooting, fatalities, combo strings, super mode after earning meter, bullet time. All of these things brought together in such fluid gameplay to make you feel like you are the baddest freakin thing this end of War jesus's throne. This has been added to one of the things I want to buy for the fall.

No "Space Hulk" monsters? I don't know thing one about Warhammer, but I liked the idea of that game.

Do you mean the Genestealers?
I imagine this game will be mostly fighting Orks and Chaos but who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if other races showed up.
Also, I really enjoyed the demo. Got that Dynasty-Warriors-but-with-a-way-cooler-setting-and-guns vibe.

Well Space hulks can have pretty much anything on them. They area amalgam of ships and other such things that have been lost in the warp, and fuse together some how. Orks and Genestealers are the usual suspects for space hulks citizens.
which of the two things on the cover do you think the space hulk is?
... because the space hulk is neither.

I think it's the one I don't give a shit about in 2011. This might be a bigger concept than you've prepared for.

Shit, you're the one that asked the question, HOT TAMALE.

Well are the Johnstallers in this thing or not?

I don't think so :(
It's too bad, the Tyranids could have some epic bosses.

I really like the feeling of impact that this game has. Dynasty warriors feels like someone doing katas in front of a bunch of dudes and then they fly away. This game seems to crunch more and being covered in viscera when the smoke clears is a nice touch as well.

I've been playing this for about a week and I've seen the name pop up here and there at the same time so I thought I'd try to drum up some renewed attention. This game is a ton of fun. It doesn't do anything new, but it does a lot of stuff right. JM mentioned the feeling of impact the game has and that's probably the best part. The action just feels right; the melee and gun battles have a tangible component. The best headshot confirmation since Gears of War, each one of the weapons have a distinct purpose to them. The fights can get out of hand quickly if you don't pay attention, the swarms this game throw at you can get ridiculous.
The game looks and sounds great too, this seems like a sleeper hit partly because of its downright atrocious title.

i recently finished it. even though im not happy with the ending but the game was a blast.
The weapons are awesome. being a 40k fan but never having played any of the table top stuff, its nice to see the representations of the weapons i've read about in the novels. The story is rather basic but really interesting. They keep it very basic for the non 40k fans. They dont mentions the chapter of chaos, they dont say what god they worship, which they usually do in these types of situations, especially going up against other Marines. But they give enough for the fans of the lore to really enjoy it.
It sets up for a sequel nicely, though with 40k there are so many things you can do it doesn't need to. im hoping or a tyranid or eldar campaign for the next one. Or maybe tie it in with some of the books, fighting during the Holy Novela during the Eisenhorn book would be epic as all hell.
