This game existing confuses me, and I kind of feel bad knowing I'll probably buy it as soon as it comes out (assuming that it's not a total stinker, which is hardly a safe assumption either way).

I mean, it's being developed by a team that actually makes fighting games at least. So that's cool; so it probably won't be completely awful and broken. Hell who knows, it may even be good!

I don't know enough about Persona to know if these are characters from previous Persona RPGs or totally original ones made just for the game. Anyone?

Yes, they're characters from at least 3 and 4, I don't know what else they're planning character wise.

I'd dig it if they put in that chick from the PS1 Personas that looks kinda like Winona Ryder.

The correct answer here is Sengoku Barasa X. At least ArcSys's Hokuto no Ken fighter is fun in some silly, broken ways -- Sengoku Barasa X is just devoid of any reason to enjoy playing it (unless you're one of those nasty yaoi fangirls whom that series is targeted at...).
