These are available in 1080p, too.
Game looks gorgeous.
So pretty, and Chie looks like a lot of fun!
It's a style of fighter I don't like, but it does look nice!
How come SNK and Arc can get together the money to properly animate a game, but Capcom has to give us that lazy shit 3D? I can't even bring myself to give SF IV or MVC3 a try. You don't care enough to draw anymore? I don't care enough to buy anymore.
Yet these little guys can still pull it off. WTF?
You shouldn't even talk about this subject.
And yet I did.
But next time I'll be sure to train myself to competitive tournament caliber before commenting on the visuals in fighting games. I mean, how can I even know that cheaper 3D characters look and move like shit compared to more expensive 2D characters before I master the games, right?
I agree that these sprites are fucking delicious and destroy goofy-ass 3D models. If only they could incorporate the shit-a-brick-face technology from SF4.
Because the market generally won't pay $60 for 2D graphics anymore, not in the numbers that Capcom's looking for anyway. SFIV and MvC have sold several millions, what's Blazblue sittin' at?
Also, roster size and dev time. This game's gonna have like 10 characters, Blazblue started with similar, KoFXII's roster compared to past KoFs was anemic. It'd probably have taken 3+ releases and/or 5 years of development to get to the number of characters that console SFIV and vanilla MvC had, which have since piled on another 10+ characters in their revisions with less than a year of turnaround. That sorta pace ain't happening with 2D.
If you want 3 times more characters than SNK was able to draw, hire 3 times more animators. Done. Capcom should be big enough to do that.
Yeah, yeah. I get it. OMG 2D might not sell and it costs more.
Capcom pussied out on their character graphics and their new games looks like shit compared to what the smaller companies are doing. Nothing changes that.
I thought SF4 did a pretty good job of translating to 3D. I'm not sure how much the "2D costs more and takes more time" argument holds up anymore.
I like SF4 a lot, but I hated hated hated it before I put any time into it. It plays like I expect it to, even if part of that is the built-in shortcuts bridging the gap between execution and skill deterioration.
There's not a lot of evidence for that one way or the other. BlazBlue wouldn't sell SF4 numbers if it was 3D, and SF4 would have outsold BB if it had 2D graphics. Street Fighter is a monster brand with majore muscle behind it and BB a relatively new brand with hardly any marteting.
I suspect "reusable assets" is what's up here. Capcom can throw a different filter or shader on the same model and achieve a different look for different games. New moves etc are a lot less trouble to add in after the fact, too.
[bitter]The real answer is that Capcom is a horrible company that tells you what you want.[/bitter]
Cheebs' wife is on erryone's account.
It's the only sensible answer.
One day, there will be a typo on this site that goes unmentioned.
I hope to never see that day.
There is one on this VERY PAGE.
That wasn't it.

I hope this game is wildly successful, to the point Capcom feels obligated to put out a 2D Rival Schools game.
They won't revive Rival Schools. Ever. They like to pretend it doesn't exist.
All those meters!
It doesn't look like it'd be fun to play. It's mostly just flash.
That game isn't that flashy. It's just faster paced than SF.
What "flash" does MvC3 have? If you're going by supers, they are no worse than Ultras in SF4. Most of MvC3 is rushdown and projectile spamming. Not filling your screen up with huge flashing hit confirms.
How would you know? You know almost nothing about the gameplay at this point.
I saw the video that was posted.
It's fine to say you don't like the look of it, but I think calling it a bunch of flash and then loving on MvC3 is a bit disingenuous.
320 HITS!
270,000,000 DAMAGE
Killer Instinct stopped at 80.
As for flash, in the words of Ramon
"When you are a tournament level player, you don't even notice the flash"
Hey shut up.
I was being serious. You don't notice any of that stuff, and you know this, so it's a silly reason to dislike the game. I am not a fan either, but as far as good or bad gameplay goes, flash means nothing.
Jesus Christ. Now this is another game I will have to buy. I'm not to into fighters either cuz I suck a big dick at them. It'll come to the US sometime - just watch. Because there are enough nerds like me and you guys who like this Persona shit.
I agree. he does
Mitsuru and Akihiko are in the game!
They's visiting from college!
Akihiko can't afford shirts anymore!
Shirts are so high school. It sounds like he travelled the world for fightings like Ryu or Batman.
Kinda funny how the tough guy is the most scantily clad character terms in the game so far, though!
Just be grateful he's not wearing the speedo again.
This now has a name and will be coming to North America this summer.
I'm more interested in Persona 4 Vita TBH.
This is a $60 retail release now? I thought I remembered it being on XBLA/PSN.
I liked the idea of this as a XBLA/PSN like it was originally announced as better.
Not sure if I like the idea of it being $60.
wait this was XBLA/PSN? I totally missed that.
And that would have been a steal, yeah. $60 doesn't seem unreasonable at all.
Woo, Atlus!
I'm gonna assume PS3 only? Good thing my stick is modded.
Waiting on Ultimate Persona 4 Arena.
Wait... she's JOHNNY!
Totally wrong thread.
Yeah it totally was.
Weekdays at 4pm on Toonami.

That seems like a perfectly good reason, albeit one that is in the favor of publisher.
1. There is no good reason for region locks ever.
2. How many people are really going to import from the US?
It fucks me over bad, because I have a jPS3.
I would import from America if it were cheaper. I really want this game. Anime hooooooooooo!
Guys, I seriously want to learn this game. I hope this is popular enough to make it to EVO.
I'm holding out hope until I play it.
Also: For it to be less than $60.
That price is a bit steep, and I doubt I'm buying it anytime soon seeing as how I'm literally living out of a suit case, but I do like what I see.
I'm actually glad you're pumped for it. I am pretty pumped for it as well, though having a 30-40 hour storymode apparently is a little weird.
Well, Persona is an RPG if I'm not mistaken. I'm not surprised they added a separate story to it. I just don't give a shit about the one player mode unless that's how you unlock characters and then I'll lose my shit.
I doubt it is, unless Shadow Labrys is basically your boss character not meant for tournament play.
To be honest, I would love a fighting game with an RPG story. I'm just not sure how it can be 30-40 hours.
Lots of "..." moments.
Reverse importation has been hurting the Japanese anime market since the Cool Japan fad. Or, rather, it's been killing their ability to gouge their fans with absurd prices.
It's also the reason why we never get the highest quality video rips of Japan cartoons in the States. No surprise the games market wants a piece of that.
Atlus USA is like Geneon now?
My Japanese PS3 that i paid a buttload for won't play the identical cheaper version that comes out two weeks later and i don't understand why this would be a problem for Atlus at all. Weh weh weh, boycott Atlus.
I like Atlus USA. They're smart.
Japan is stoopid
Atlus USA doesn't have much to do with the development of games either.
Index Holding ate Atlus jp a few years back and the company remained miraculously unchanged. If one of the very few things that happened is that they're enacting a practice that has been popular for nearly EVERY system except non-recent portables, it really isn't much to cry about. I guess they've made more SMTs, and more accessible SMTs at that over the past few years, but man. Who cares? People like to cry about one of the few companies that stayed awesome through the current gen. Fuck. Go play some shooting mans games.
I'll shoot YOUR mans with a fightmans riding on a sportsmans.
So this is out. GT review here:

I'm in for one, but I hear the Zboz netcode is a bit laggy at the moment. There's an incoming patch. I skipped out on Blazblue and am hungry for a good Arc System Works fighter. I guess I should also play Persona 4 at some point to understand what's going on.
I might get this later in the year. I, too, want to play P4. I'm planning to play it on Vita eventually.
Should achievement whores avoid this game since it will take at least 30 hours to complete everyone's story modes?
I got it today, bout to dive in and play for a bit. Time to learn the system, find a character, learn moves and maybe give the online a whirl. I may even rip the soundtrack cd too.
You crazy!
Cretins.
Don't get the hate for Arc Systems Works fighters. I only didn't play BB because it seemed too complex for me to get into at the time. The art looks good, the systems are usually fun to learn and tough to master...don't really think you could call them objectively bad, but I guess a distaste for the anime style could turn some people off?
I'm going to pick this up just for the story and then sell it.
$49.99 from NewEgg with EMCNBNC235
ASW is awesome.
I really love Arc System Works fighers, personally. I just wish more people played them. I love the style, the character designs, and the unconventional fighter mechanics. Going back to Guilty Gear X, I really appreciated how every fighter wasn't just a shoto/charge clone. They like to try new things, and that's cool.
