Took long enough, but here it is.
A late, watered down port is too good for the game's thread?
It'll be interesting to see how it turns out, but I have no reason to buy this game on console. It'll probably look pretty bad compared to the PC game.
I'll check this out.
But, it will still look like a cut down version of the original game, with low res texture maps for the background scenary and possibly foliage that doesn't animate with wind motion.
Crysis 2 may have started out looking decent on PC, but with the patches the game looked so much better than what we got at launch and alot better than the console.
The next generation just needs to hurry the fuck up. After Uncharted 3 launches, the current consoles can fuck off. When a portable is essentially on par with the consoles, it's time for a new generation, and we're going to be there before the year ends. Hell, tablets are going to catch up next year most likely.
Dude, it's been four years. Anyone who was going to play the PC port already has by now. Comparisons are pointless because this game is targetted toward people who simply will not play it on PC.
So compare it to the other games that audience will play (i.e. other console games). Compared to those, it looks amazing. As does Crysis 2 (notice I never made any comparison between C2 on PC and on console, only between C2 and other console games). From the looks of the trailer, I expect them to just remix the first game with Crysis 2 controls, not a straight port of the original gameplay.
Crysis supported the 360 pad right out of the box. I can't imagine they'll make many changes.
The trailer says "all new Nanosuit controls" so it seems as though they are making changes to the controls, albeit not out of necessity.
I will play this.
This looks alright and better than I expected, but I'm hoping we get Crysis: Maximum Edition++ at PS4/Xbox 720 launch. While I've blasted through the PC versions of Warhead and the original, I just want to see how this one turns out. Maybe the suit mode switcher will just be mapped to LB with RS used to select.
QFMFT. Huge difference.Quote:

Same areas in both comparison sets.

Wow, those last two shots are a little depressing. That's so different it actually has gameplay implications.
But it might be early. Some of the other scenes look a lot closer to how they should.
EDIT: Wait, this comes out next month? What did they announce it after it went gold?
Why bother releasing this? I can't see this being anything more than a blip on the radar. Resistance 3 just came out for PS3, GOW3 is going to dominate 360 in less than 2 weeks then BF3 and MW3 come out in quick order. Everyone is covered in the next 2 months.
What the hell is the price point for this? I can't imagine anybody buying it for more than $20 at release.
According to this site, it's going to be available through PSN for $20.

Looks awesome IMO. Crysis is better than just about every other FPS that is coming out now (including Crysis 2) so this will be a good buy.
Who cares about pics? Will all the environments be destructable? Will it be 1080p (540p pics seem to say no)? Will it run at a good framerate?
It will probably be at the same framerate and res as Crysis 2 since it's the same engine.
Agreed. So we can stop talking comparisons, because it's not close.
What comparisons? Crytek was pointing out that it looks better than the trailer indicates.
Only dumb dipshits compare it to how it looks on a high end PC in 2011. I realize there are lots of dumb dipshits out there, but it's still useless.
The only thing I'll say on that end is that it looks way better on 360 than on my very-good PC did when it came out.
I guess you can define "looks way better" lots of ways, but I don't think the 360 version is going to run at the same resolution and frame rate with the same level of detail as a very good 2007 PC with an 8800GT could run it. It's not a fair comparison whether it's 2007 or 2011.
I don't care. I am sure you can find some cool dudes at HardOCP or Anandtech or whatever who do, though. Go talk to them about it.
That's my point. I don't know why there are so many comparisons in the thread. Consoles aim to be "good enough" by definition.
I mean you weren't going to run it very well at 1920x1080 on an 8800 GT. The game ran reasonably well and looked great but performance was very resolution-sensitive because the game is so fill-rate intensive.
But whatever, I think the only relevant comparison is how the game looks compared to other console games.
Crysis 1 on consoles? What, is it going to be pre-rendered with cues to tap a direction like Dragon's Lair?
They downgraded the shit out of the graphics in Crysis 2 to come up with something that stood a chance at being translated to home consoles. Then the console versions needed to be downgraded further on top of that. There is no chance they can get anything that looks like Crysis 1 running on a Zboz or PS3.
Remember when Cheebs posted that modded-the-fuck-out Crysis super jungle video and wanted us to be OUTRAGED that Crysis 2 didn't look like that when Crysis 1 didn't even look like that?
I'm kinda torn about this. A Crytek employee recently talked about how wasteful Crysis was when it came to resources, and I'd really really really like to see an optimized version of C1 on PCs running on CryEngine 3, but I don't want the lighting to look like that flavor-blasted goldfish stuff that we're getting in the pictures. Apparently this is being handled by a guy that did graphical mods for C1 or C2 PC (I forget), but that's exactly what it reminds me of. A super-crushed graphics mod.
I'm guessing the levels will probably be downsized and some of the NK soldiers' voice samples get cut out in order to fit into 512MB RAM. Should this happen, they better not remove "Die like a fuckin' dog!" or "I'll kill you for fun!".
Crysis 3 can wait for next-gen, so that Crytek won't have to concede shit to the limits of PS3 & 360. PS4 and Xbox 720 systems need a mouse/keyboard option as well. Nvidia Kepler or Maxwell (or whatever AMD equivalent) GPU in the new systems at least, plz.
The developers are the problem on mouse and keyboard. Epic and Valve have both supported one on PS3. The next generation can't come too soon though.
Ha ha. Yoshi not only thinks that there will be a new generation, but also that it will support keyboards and mice when it gets here.
Crysis review from 2007. I wonder what kind of rig they were playing this on. Some of it looks really nice, a lot of it looks, meh.
Onlive.

Well look at that! It actually looks pretty nice.
And Crytek said (about 4 yrs. ago) that it couldn't be done. I believed them after playing through it on PC. Sometimes being wrong is so good.
Hopefully the breakable trees will be in.
physics shit will take the biggest hit, imo.
Curiousity got the best of me, I had to see how they fit this game on the 360. So I played this a bit. It looks really, really good. The big difference is a lot less grass, so you don't have that shrubby undergrowth. But the lighting looks like a step up from the PC original. The game plays great, Delta/Hard are hard as shit, the physics are there as far as I can tell, the suit powers are still awesome, they did a really good job. Overall I think the game looks better than the PC version on medium by a fair margin.
Framerate is good, it drags for a split second here or there when there's a lot of shit on screen (think of that first section if they call that armored truck in for reinforcements and he starts blowing shit up.
It sounds great too, plugged in the Astros for the first time in months.
It's not a miracle or anything, it's not like I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS ON 360 but it's way way better than anyone thought possible in 07.
Medium? Who cares? Can you mow down trees?
Are you a mexican?
Maybe! As I recall, you never see your character.
Yea, you can definitely cut down trees.
Played it some more, confirmed this is legit Crysis. Very impressive work from Crytek - the lighting is some of the best I've seen.
Crysis (360) for 800 spacebucks/$10.
I picked it up, having never played it before.
I've been playing through Crysis 2 on the PC. This is my second run through the title, since I wanted to see how it run on my new PC hardware. I'm going to run through the first Crysis soon, just to see if I can max out the settings at 1920 x 1080.
I'mma hafta get the 360 version then. I've never played it either.
I can already hear Yoshi and Opaque squirming in their chairs! :D
I don't really like Crysis that much (I played the 360 and PC OMG versions). I have the second one and have yet to start it. Despite everyone saying it's not as good, it might be more to my liking than the first.
First Crysis on 360 plays extremely well and looks good too. Not as good as the PC version, but I actually like the way the lighting looks better on the 360 believe it or not. The game really is very much intact and it's a great title.
Crysis 2's biggest flaw is just the cliche that is post-disaster New York City. It's a fine game apart from that, and it's not really any less linear than the first. It does some things better, too. It's one of the best shooters out, I think people just miss the jungle for it's illusion of openness and the fact that it's not as overdone in games (mostly for technical reasons).
I still haven't played 2, but I am definitely in the camp of loving the jungle from the original. The physics were outstanding.
