I'm surprised this didn't have a thread yet. Capcom's best (or second worst?) Resident Evil game of 2012 is coming February 7. I'm surprised it is so early in the year, but if it's good this will really continue the 3DS' momentum from Mario Land and Mario Kart in November and December, respectively. I wonder what this means for the dual analog attachment's street date...
Isn't Monster Hunter due in Japan by December? Isn't the add on stick supposed to launch with that, like 10 bucks more for the game with stick kind of deal. I would imagine it wouldn't be too much later to see it in the US. Maybe we'll see it as a pack in with this Resident Evil game.

Capcom thinks they're getting $50 for this without the circle pad. If that starts a trend, my 3DS is gone after I finish Mario Kart.
I can see where Capcom's coming from. This current crop of handhelds can do real games yet they still are expected to price the games way lower.
Honestly, Uncharted Vita and Uncharted PS3... there's not a whole lot of difference. And what's in the Vita game is way beyond what they were getting for $50 last generation.
I love the 3D on the 3DS, but it's a damn GameCube essentially. Sony is asking $40 for Uncharted on Vita with the same 4GB of storage and a hell of a lot more horsepower.
Perhaps even more important is that my phone can't do Uncharted: GA (yet), but it definitely could do RE:R. That to me is a critical threshold for pricing as well.
And this whole discussion is yet another reason why physical media can't die fast enough. You can't justify your price by blaming the storage when the player already owns the storage.
Please even if it was a downloadable game Capcom would find a bullshit reason to charge 10 bucks more. Digital Distribution wouldn't change that. Instead of blaming the storage they would blame something else.

Alot of publishers have wisely opted to lower 3DS price points I can't really fault Capcom for this decision when it has roughly the amount of content as RE 5. Sony's first party offerings are going to probably stay firm at $40, doesn't mean third parties are going to stick to that on 3DS or Vita.
I just realized this comes out two weeks before the Vita. With that timing, the price is irrelevant.
I wish game journalists had the balls to call companies on their bullshit PR statements. The additional storage cost is so miniscule as to not be worth mentioning. This is just Capcom gouging its audience, who will buy it regardless of the extra $10.
Well, does Nintendo manufacture all DS/3ds carts like they did cartridge games in the past? Cause if so it might be Nintendo gouging on the cost.

Demo is out for this on the eShop. It's limited to 30 uses, which is really fucking weird.
Anyway, tried it out and it looks ridiculously good, holy shit. Jill wakes up in a mansion setting, there's a new scan mechanic (which I usually really like =3) and it totally feels like old RE. Pretty cool from what I played. The foggy dining room area looked neat!
I love old RE. Am I going to have to buy a 3DS now?

Apparently Capcom had RE5 up and running on the 3ds (and were impressed by how well it ran) before they started developing this one. I know RE 5 gets a lot of crap but I'd like a portable version of it, I had a bit of fun online with it.

I played the demo. My buddy played the demo. My kid played the demo. Not a single one of us felt like we were hampered by the controls.
I'm not going to say having that second stick won't make things better, but I don't see how it is "necessary".
Unless the CPP option adds something you absolutely cannot do otherwise, like move and shoot at the same time RE4/5 style, then I don't see why it is so necessary.

edit2: I ordered the CPP from zavvi in the UK. The total with shipping was £15.94, which is ~$25. So I spent $3 more to tell GameStop to fuck off. That's totally worth it.
I had zero interest in this game before playing the demo; really feels like Capcom's learned a few things from 4 & 5 but are making this a survival horror series again.

Liked what I saw, so ordered the e-Capcom LE. This is the first 3DS game I've purchased since the JP launch!
I was pleasantly surprised to find a Club Nintendo code in the case. Hopefully all third party games are going to come with those now.

Also, I played the demo and I feel like I'm tearing my hand apart reaching for Y while holding the trigger on the 3DS. I don't understand it.
I'm playing with the circle pad pro, and I much prefer playing this way. The added L and R triggers are way more comfortable.

I finished Episode 3 and unlocked the Raid Mode. I'm looking forward to trying that with my brother tonight. Apparently you can get loot of different rarities as you clear the missions, which is pretty cool.

My circle pad pro just showed up from Nintendo Direct (fuck supporting gamestop) and HOLY SHIT. I played through the whole game without it and it was fine, but it just feels wonderful with the circle pad. Well worth the money, and I hope more 3ds games support the circle pad in the future.
I can't wait for the inevitable 3DS model that has it built in.

Didn't think I'd care too much about RAID mode but I'm having fun with it. I'd say this game is a strong contender for best portable game ever.
It seriously is. It completely destroys the most recent console entry in the series, which is pretty rare for a portable game. As a total package, it might be the strongest game in the series.
I finished Episode 6/Chapter 2 and unlocked more Raid Mode content. The pacing of the campaign is so perfect. I play an episode or two and take a break, just as if I were watching a TV show. I even tend to play console games that way, so this idea shouldn't be limited to portable games.
I might have to pick this and the CCP up. I thought the demo was really sharp.
I played through Episodes 10 and 11 tonight, but my hands started to cramp, so I had to call it quits on the last damn episode! :cry:

Exclusives and best versions are all that really matter. Which one will the 3DS version be?
Even if we assume the console versions are 3D, it still doesn't matter. Most people who wanted to play this so badly that they would buy a 3DS to do so would have done so over the course of the past year. It's not a hardware mover anymore. Capcom might sell a few more for consoles and a few less for 3DS, but I don't see the "crushing blow."
I'm not a shareholder, so I don't care about unit sales. The 3DS isn't exactly loaded with third party games, especially ones that aren't RPGs, so it could use to keep some exclusives.

That's almost exactly right. Cross Buy is a different animal though, because it essentially makes the PS3 and Vita versions combined, which will often make the combination the best version by definition, especially when it's Cross Play too. It's hard to beat the ability to play the same game with the same saves at home and on the road for one price. But to your point, if Golden Abyss gets announced for PS3 without save transferring, it would indeed nail the Vita's library in the same way.

I've never actually played a Wonderswan. My only experience was seeing the WS stuff in Buy Rite's glass case, and thinking "OMG FINAL FANTASY 1 and 2 ON PORTABLE!!!!" Naturally, the attraction is now gone.
I imported one with Rockman & Forte and GnG when they were still new. I liked it but it was ass compared to my NGPC at the time.
Same. I also unsuccessfully tried to bull my way through Langrisser in Japanese. I think I had at least one more game too, but I can't recall what it was off the top of my head.
While par for the course, Capcom's laziness continues to disappoint. No Move support in the PS3 ports of RE4 or this (I'm pretty safely assuming on the latter) and no Wiimote support for the Wii U version of this.
Releases RE4 on Wii with a control input that makes the game better, and even more enjoyable. Never apply that control scheme to any other games in the franchise ever. Capcom really is just a massive troll at this point.
So basically, I'll never play another RE game again that isn't 4. I'm okay with that.
Still no word on the Wonderswan version, but the PC version is up on Steam now with a May 21 unlock.

I haven't played Revelaitons past the demo, but I liked Zero Suit Jill in RE5.
PC demo is out. Make sure to set your aim speed under controls to very fast. I really like it, even though it's weak in the graphics area. Maybe some mods will help with that, but the core gameplay feels like RE4 Resi with shooter aiming from 6. Then I'm desperate for this kind of gameplay, having become sick to death of combat arenas where you face dozens of enemies at once. Even Tomb Raider piles on the body count for absolutely no reason other than to annoy.
