Yeah, that kick made it all worth it.
I just got through the Underpants gnome part. The QTE with the balls? Jesus christ this game is incredible.

OMG yeah, you're like RIGHT before me.
KEE YAW
I was going to buy this but the GMG credit doesn't stack with their coupon code, so it's still at 47 dollars.
Too much for a risky game.
I want to get this and play it all weekend but holy shit I just bought a bunch of games.
There needs to be some game in between all the humor/references though
It's sort of like how Smash Brothers is pretty crap
It reminds me of an adventure game in the sense that the gameplay only has to be decent enough to drive the dialog and story. It's more or less an interactive episode where you get to walk around and play some amusing Paper Mario-ish combat.
Does playing this get me anything that watching an extended play on YouTube does not?
Probably not, honestly.
Edit: Actually, unless you watch a 100% playthrough, because there is shit EVERYWHERE. I'd want to do it at my own pace, and direction.
Yeah, the exploration/discovery is pretty satisfying. And the combat is simple but fun. It all feeds into the fanservice perfectly.
But I don't think I've ever wanted to just watch a full playthrough of a game, so I can't really speak to that.
One thing of note, to get any kind of fun and even an inkling of challenge out of the combat make sure to bump it up to Hardcore difficulty right away. Even Hardcore is really easy but it at least allows for a bit of strategy.
I think the biggest problem with combat is that the damage numbers are too big and random to properly strategise, other than make a shit at every toilet to throw at people and use all your pp up at the start. With Paper Mario the Hp and damage numbers are so low that it actually becomes a very strategic game because you know how much damage you can do and how much your going to take, also healing/items not taking a turn means it turns into a poting fest.
This game still rules btw.
Gross out is overpowered.
Ginger pube FTW.
The Pony Express finally delivered my copy. Interestingly, it had a code for the preorder content in the case. Plus, my optical drive actually got used in 2014!
Why would you use your optical drive? Just register it your game code on steam and download it.
Because it's 1,000 times faster to register and let it install from the disc?
Finished the main story line. There sure is a lot of crazy shit. Great game.
Man they really decided to go way past the line towards the end... that was just wrong, so very very wrong.
Clocked in around 11 hours. Don't feel like I ever need to play it again, but if somebody strung together the cutscenes I'd watch it again.
So... what about the glitches reviewers were talking about? Nobody encountered them here?
I had my game lock up in battle once. It happened when I was using the "mug" ability and since almost every time I use it the game sort of hiccups when it's deciding what I stole.
I was glitch free in my run.
Yeah, same. Not a single glitch. Kind of strange TBH since reviewers were complaining and knocking points for it.
A friend of mine just had his game continually fail to save without notice. Three hours of gameplay into the nether. I'd say you guys were just lucky.
Obsidian hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt.
That's part of the reason I haven't tried this yet. I'm waiting for the bug fixes so I can experience the NEWER bugs.
I had a pretty common tutorial bug where you're supposed to counterattack, but the game doesn't let you. Had to reload a save, and then it was fine.
I ran into some sound bugs, and some issues where the "Hold to continue" button wouldn't work during Jimmy stuttering scenes, which resolved by itself. aside from that I've been gameplay based bug free. Honestly, compared to a lot of high profile releases these days I've had a really smooth experience playing this game. I'm also very happy because the 10 hour completion time was way off base considering I have to be pushing 15 - 17 hours on Hardcore and still have a bunch of sidequests and what is seemingly the last main quest to complete.
This game kicks ass, I'm going to be pretty sad when it's over because there really is no replay value except to see the South Park content again.
Then someone should be willing to sell it cheap sometime soon! :link:
I got stuck in the tutorial as well.
There were two guys I was supposed to fight, so I kill the first enemy. Then, cartman tells me to use some attack that apparently can only be used on the first enemy, and that's when I went to bed.
Got this on the black Friday steam sale. It was fun. Did everything. Almost felt like hanging out with an old friend. I remember watching this a show a lot in HS early college. It was really fun exploring the town.
Sadly, there is almost no replay value after you beat the quest. Well not for a while anyway. May go back in a year or two.
This is $5 on PSN.
!
Holy crap, I'd bite for $5 and I don't care for RPGs OR South Park particularly much.
I went to buy it but it's back to the old price. $5 must have been a mistake they fixed or a really short sale.
Fuck :(
I read about it yesterday.
snooze, lose.
Bought it at $5. Will get around to playing in 2025.
This is surprisingly good! We've been trading the controller back and forth and taking turns just watching it. It's pretty much a South Park movie sequel with loading screens and game mechanics.
It's really good, all things considered. The only real problem is that you will probably finish most of the extra content while playing the main game, so there isn't a lot extra to do after you finish the story.
For five bucks, I don't mind that it's a one-shot-deal at all. Hell, how much was the Simpsons arcade game to play through once upon a time?
I missed out on the five dollar deal, I hate you all.
Outstanding.
You really did set yourself up for it. :p
