Under the Radar SNES/Genesis Games

Shining Force 1 and 2! And.... Ogre Battle? That's about all I can come up with that made it to the States.

If you like RTS you might try Genesis Dune, it's the grandfather of Command and Conquer. I had a lot of fun with it way back when, but I'm not sure it would hold up today.

Shining force for sure, awesome games. I'm sure it was mentioned but Shadowrun, hello, awesome. I played both and The Sega one did it for me. I also dug the Shit out of true Lies but anything that gives you the gift of Arnold is amazing in my book. Oh and I'm not naming games made in the states btw, just ones I like.

Someone asked about SNES and Saturn imports so I must mention that both of those systems had a version of Firepro with the Saturn version (obviously) being the better of the 2. And Princess Crown is my overall favorite Saturn import.

Very best version of Vampire Saviour, too. Kicks the arcade's ass.

Just got this in pretty great condition. Rented it as a kid, never came close to beating it. Turns out this game is rough!

It doesn't seem as good as Valken, though. I appreciate how much shit is going on on the average, and I might change my mind as I get further in, but as of right now Valken's player mech is much more fun to control, with the big well-animated sprite and the heavy dashing and the punching and the blocking and all. The stages seem less randomized (as in, there's actual enemy placement going on) as well. We'll see.

The Shining Force games and Ogre Battle have already been mentioned several times and are totally worth tracking down. Also check out Warsong and Herzog Zwei on the Genesis. For whatever reason, I was always rather partial to Gemfire on the SNES, even though it's not a particularly great game. And I know it's not for a system you asked for, but Nectaris/Military Madness is excellent if you have a TG16/emulator or a PSX.

On the Saturn, I'd track down Assault Suits Leynos 2 and Silhouette Mirage. Astal is a great little game; it's a shame hardly anyone remembers it.

I remember Astal being a really beautiful game. It's like Rayman minus the french.

Was "Weaponlord" on SNES/Genny any good? Always liked the Frank Frazetta-y-ness of it.
