Played through several times. Should have the last ending shortly. Interesting game. Certainly stands out in the system's library. It's a bit surreal to read "Fuck!" in a DS game. I'll be there for Good People Die.

#1: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
Quality action game, one of the most fun I've played all year. I think it got ignored because of the terrible title and it got bulldozed by bigger titles when it came out. Definalty worth taking for a spin, I think it took me around 10 hours to finish on Normal (had some tough spots in there too, I imagine Hard offers a significant challenge) and enjoyed the whole game. Melee and ranged combat is really satisfying, has that visceral quality that the Gears games have.
Finally finished Metroid Prime 2, after only 5 years or so. It reminds me just how much I hate backtracking these days, and how my patience for it has diminished, but it was worth it. Superb game, not nearly as bad or hard as I was expecting. Time to start Paper Mario, then maybe I can actually get into the current gen and play more Wii and 360 titles before new hardware drops.
01) F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (Hard mode, found 60/76 Intels & 6/13 Reflex Boosters, PC version)
Hard mode is a big step up from the Normal mode in FEAR 2, unlike some other FPS titles. Quick saves were in the first game, but neither the 360 nor PC (and surely PS3) versions have them. The return of the first game's garage battle theme is welcome- it goes well with piloting one of the powered armors and tearing the shit out of everything in sight with its high caliber machine guns.
VVVVVV 3DS: I LIKED THIS A LOT. I got all of the shiny things. except i cheated on the one by lowering the speed to 60% after about 400 deaths.
Prime 2 was trash.
Only Prime 1 is real.
Modern Warfare 3 (360 - Veteran) - didn't think it was nearly as hard as other COD/MW's on veteran with maybe the exception of the final sequence.

Definitely my game of the year for 2011. Aside from the frame rate dropping to single digits and the occasional glitches - all examples of Bethesda's inability to code worth a shit - this game was simply amazing. 175 hours to get the platinum trophy, and I can't wait for DLC!
2. VVVVVV- I liked it so much i finally downloaded the copy from that humble bundle AND I BEAT IT.
That's what I was expecting, but ended up very pleasantly surprised..guess I'm alone in my Prime 2 love, I liked the dark look and it was still plenty colorful. I don't rate it quite as well as Prime 1 though, but it was moderately challenging.Quote:

02) Homefront (PC version, Normal difficulty)
Kind of a short campaign compared to CoD with 7 chapters, but it has good gameplay with a decent plot (the two Koreas unite into the Greater Korean Republic and invade the USA, then you join with a group of rebels to push them out). Not exactly worth the $60 it originally launched for due to the campaign clocking in at just under 4 hours, but I picked it up while it was on sale from Steam for around $15. Replay value is low unless you're trying to get all the achievements, but you could say that about most recent FPS.
I got the Let 'em Burn achievement- when you're in Chapter 3, don't shoot any soldiers who are on fire, and the Safer Skies one- destroy all SAM trucks in Chapter 6.
3. Shoot the Asians 2: Los Revengos de La Hispanics- Pretty good game about shooting people who aren't white. It takes a pretty great turn from the original Shoot the Asians: Krauts Swastika Mein Leiben. I appreciate being able to shoot the invading Mexican forces who are impregnating our white women and making white teenagers and 20-somethings smoke drugs, but I was a little upset that one of the good NPC's was black. I'm looking forward to Shoot the Asians 3: Sharia Law Imposed. Hopefully the Irish are in this one too.
Prime 2 got to be shit near the end. I'm glad you were able to power through it, DHG. would have advised against it though.

I got VVVVV on 3ds as well and beat it in two sittings. Great game! I didn't get all the shiny things though, some just seem impossible.
The only one that's really difficult is Veni Vidi Vici. Edge Games is rough, but if you get the rhythm down it's not too hard.
Yeah, I tried Veni Vidi Vici for half an hour before I gave up. I love that they had a section called "your bitter tears...delicious."
I've been on a SNES kick over the past few months and decided to do more than just pop a game in for 20 minutes and re-beat DKC for the first time since probably December of '94. It's held up very well as a game, but the graphics haven't held up as well as I'd hoped they would. Maybe I should've re-beaten it on an old SD set, but whatever, it still felt great to beat K. Rool again.

My first game of 2011 was the original, lol. Totally by accident that I decided to wrap this up now, though.
It's prettier than the original, but the combat is a little less interesting. I'm guessing it's just too much of the same; the series has pretty limited combat when it comes to enemy and weapon types, despite the good AI, so it probably needed bigger changes in the sequel. On the upside, the forced checkpoints made things a little more interesting for a little bit.
Playing this right after Serious Sam 3 wasn't a good idea. I will not be playing the third.
2. Super Mario 3D Land - I beat it for reals, some of those Special 7 and 8 stages were pretty tough. I really, really hate that shadow Mario fucker.
1. Arkham Asylum - I bought City went it went 50% off on Steam and was enjoying it so much I had to get this when it was $5. Pretty fun game, in some ways I like it more than City, but overall it has so many fewer characters and such a smaller scale that it's not the better game. It was kind of fun playing it in prequel mode, because every time something came up I'd be extra interested because I knew where it was leading.
2. VVVVVV - 3DS
All shinies. Had a huge smile on my face through much of this. Quite enjoyable indeed. Although, WHAT IN CHRIST IS THIS NO DEATH MODE. Holy shit. Not if I had all the time in all the universes.
I played like 30 seconds of this on PC back when it was getting hyped. I didn't like the controls. Ooooh, Compy, you can be foolish. It feels at home on 3DS, though, so it worked out.

I finally got this running on my modded Xbox and passed with a friend. It's really repetitive and nothing is really impressive. I think Sega made a wise decision to make the Genesis version different, and that game is much better than this is.
Yeah, I haven't put much time into the arcade game, but the Genesis game always seemed better to me.

Completed. Fun game and alongside Pushmo the better 3DS digital downloads available. Foreground looks like a follow-up to the opening stage of MMX. Backgrounds showing a wide shot of the cities feel super reminniscent of Neo Arcadia in MMZ. The music, aside from its selling "layer" switching mechanic is the best part of the game. Paypaled the artist from his Virt site since his work (Kaufman) is always quality.

Beat it twice. Unlike the first game, there are several paths, more blockades, double-team magic and attacks, and rooms you can't pass unless you have the right single or duo tech. Fun stuff, even if it is more of a free app, I played it more than I expected to and enjoyed it. Run into 7 or 8 Streetpasses a day, so this should go by fast.

Beaten on Normal twice. Fun stuff, was merely going through free games offered through PS+ before they expired. A classic. I don't think I ever beat 3, though.
05. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty - HD Collection

Beaten. Girlfriend never beat MGS1 or 2, so I beat MGS1 over the Holidays (see: a day) and then this after New Year's. Raiden is less annoying the 2nd time around. I forgot how the last boss is two minutes long, yet is instead two full hours due to incredibly painful diatribe on society's need for the Patriots. Aside from that, maybe it's growing up, but it made more sense this time around (even if they repeated themselves a bit too much).
06. Sonic Generations (3DS)

I bought and Platinum'ed the next-gen (PS3) version last year and thoroughly enjoyed. Its 3DS counterpart was on sale and the tracks are completely different picks, so I bit the bullet and got it. Really fun, I probably like it more than the next-gen edition. Mushroom Hill is in this and any Autumn stage to me spells immediate interest. Good stuff. :)
03) Call of Duty: Black Ops (PC, Hard difficulty)
My CoD hiatus has just ended. For a CoD game it's good to see something different than the WWII/MW themes. The campaign length isn't bad- definitely more than Homefront's 4 hours, and there's more location diversity. Reznov from WaW makes an appearance.
In F.E.A.R. 2 I never bother with the pistols. Your inability to dual wield them means it's just not worth wasting a weapon slot on one IMO when that can go to a Shark laser, a sniper rifle, a Hammerhead, etc.

Beaten. Was missing one sword to turn into Gold Sparkster to get the True Ending, but bah. Still super charming.
2. Halo 3 ODST
I hadn't played it yet so when my girlfriends sister was adamant about getting me a console game for christmas I figured this was a cheap title I'd actually crank through in a night or two. It was pretty different from the other titles in terms of scale and setting, not to mention it was so fucking dark. Overall the worst Halo game.

1. Rayman Origins- Beat the game, got all the teeth to unlock the optional TRUE BOSS, beat her. Still lots of Time Trial and Electoon Count Lums to get, but I'll give it a rest for a bit before doing the 100% thing. Great game, although the last world and hidden world get super trial-and-errorish.
How is the difficulty of the game overall?

Put this on the backburner last year and restarted over the New Year's holiday. Exactly the same in design philosophy as the Samorost titles, as in it's an adventure game with absolutely no text which occasionally makes some puzzles frustrating as you might not totally get what the devs were thinking. There are also a number of scenes that involve action game skills that'll likely turn off those who don't normally play games that require hand eye coordination. Loved the lush 2D visuals and setting design, as well as engaging music but disappointing that the game doesn’t scale up beyond 1024x768 resolution even in full screen mode, you’re just left with huge black borders on a 720p or 1080p display. The game is pretty decent but not my first recommendation for the genre.
2. BATMAN (FC)

Starting a Batman marathon of the good games (not playing crap like the Acclaim published stuff) by visiting the first Sunsoft title. Oddly enough, there is no localization whatsoever in the Japanese version (everything is in English) and the difficulty is exactly the same as the NES version. Wasn't able to 1cc as I forgot the patterns for the Joker and the sub-boss before him. Still a great action title even if Batman jumps funny.
3. BATMAN (GB)

It's Batman with a gun meets Super Mario Land. It doesn't make much sense but the game plays fairly well with amazing music. Difficulty ramps up dramatically from the second Batwing level and the force scrolling stage on 4-2 killed my 1cc attempt.

Never felt as tight as the Famicom version but it has the 16-bit aesthetics unlike its PCE counterpart. Just like the Famicom version, it focuses on hand to hand combat with the normal jump also acting as a knee attack being your main weapon for bosses. Initially, it doesn't seem like there are patterns for taking out the non-vehicle bosses without batarangs but sure enough there are. Even Joker falls easily to multiple jumps to his head. Decent game but doesn't beat the FC version.
5. BATMAN (PCE)

Originally designed to be a sidescroller but ending up being a maze game with Bomberman looks. Batman looks like a fatty and is absolutely useless without powerups. When you throw a batarang (the only method of attacking), he is stuck in place and the no power up batarang takes forever to go out and come back. 48 stages in all with a surprising boss battle at the end. Having not encountered bosses in the game before, it took some time to figure out how to beat the 2 sub-bosses and then Joker. Throughout the game, there are some great remixes of tracks from the Famicom and Mega Drive version, but there's little here to recommend.
6. Dynamite BATMAN (FC)

Aka BATMAN: RETURN OF THE JOKER. Coming out at the end of the hardware’s life span, the visuals feature big and numerous sprites and some amazing parallax scrolling. Unfortunately, the design seems incomplete as stages are rather short and only 1 of the weapons you can get is useful. Jump controls are more awkward than any of the previous Sunsoft Batmans too. Still, it’s an enjoyable action title.
04) Call of Duty: MW3 (PC, Hard mode)
Just finished up a CoD doubleheader with this one. Not a bad way to close out the current MW trilogy, though it did seem a tad easier than Black Ops. Campaign length is about average at 8 hours.
3) Bulletstorm
Yeah I've played it before but I did a complete playthrough after getting the steam version. Best single player FPS experience out there.

I found it to be a garbage and uninteresting game. Not even mindless fun, just trekking through garbage.
The problem is there's better mindless fun out there as well such as the Serious Sam games and Painkiller.
I enjoyed Bulletstorm, it was mindless fun, but it isn't even the best of its type when you narrow it down to that.
I had a lot of fun with Bulletstorm. Really liked the quick score attack Echo mode, lots of strategy to get to the top of the leader boards.
Despite everyone calling it "old school" or "mindless" or whatever, Serious Sam 3 is actually the most mechanically progressive single-player FPS of the past 5+ years.

A remake is the only thing that will ever get me to play it again.
Even if it were a well-managed project (lolololol), there's no way the Black Mesa Source dudes can get the enemies to behave like they did in HL1. Doomed project from the start.
Black Mesa Source, from day one, was just a sales pitch. They were hoping they would get hired or bought up by Valve (or anybody). Once it became clear that wasn't going to happen, it had no chance.
Last year I still managed to get caught up in giant treadmill games like WoW and Monster Hunter which really suck up time and ruin my average =[ So far:
#1 - Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
Finished off the main game and the Special Worlds. I'd almost rather replace the regular game WITH the Special levels, and then have an even harder set of levels afterwards. That would be pretty much perfect. Overall I still think the jumping momentum sucks and holding Y to run in a 3D game sucks but it was probably the best 3D Mario has ever been right below the Galaxy series.
#2 - To the Moon (PC)
Odd little almost-adventure game, more like an interactive story told through RPG Maker. The characters and the concept were intriguing enough to keep me going, even if the dialogue was 90's Working Designs groan-worthy, topical garbage. They could keep it going as a series with a new patient every episode (which I think was hinted at strongly by labeling it Episode 1 in the end credits). I'd say don't pay more than $5 for it. I did, but I'm a sucker for anything that tells a story through unconventional means, especially something like a 90's RPG facade.
#3 - The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D (3DS)
Took me a while to get into, but this is a very nice update to the game. It's easy to forget that the first one looks like hot garbage these days, but this game looks great! I also really liked the innovative way in which this Zelda game incorporates physical button presses into instant, in-game actions. Link responds immediately to my input every time! I think this could be the future of gaming.
PS - Save manually before you beat the game because even though it unlocks the Master Quest and shit, it just boots you out to the main menu without saving. If you're a sleep mode junkie like I am, you might get fucked.
7. BATMAN (AC)

3cc on default settings, Extremely rare to find out in the wild for good reason, it's not the best game, feel somewhat like a Rolling Thunder clone with the movie license mixed with incredibly easy vehicle stages, the wonky controls can easily frustrate as when you mean to high jump, it will suddenly turn into a low jump kick if an enemy is nearby, tried to 1cc but ended up with 3cc
8. BATMAN: Return of The Joker (GB)

1cc on Normal, some great visuals and music in the last Sunsoft Batman that are hampered by terrible controls, feels like you are always on ice and the jumping/grappling hook mechanics can easily frustrate you with how awkward it feels, honestly seems like an unfinished game as it's so short but the difficulty is what will keep most from clearing it (the final Joker battle took me a few days to figure out...)
Just beat Saints Row the Third - got the happy ending, and I'm really quite surprised I beat this just because with past SR games, I'd get bored of the missions before beating them, and with this one, they made the campaign compelling enough to be worth going through while also keeping missions varied and COMPLETELY FUCKING INSANE at times.
3. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (PSP)
I never did finish playing this on the Wii, but the PSP version is better anyway. The game is a bit of a mess, there is a lot of good in it, but also some annoying things (like random battle frequency, much worse than FFIV.) The last dungeon is pretty epic, 30 floors I think, with a bazillion bosses From other Final Fantasy games. Ultima (aka Atma) Weapon from FF6 is the hardest normal boss in the game. It is funny having the party give a collective "WTF" after beating Orthos (aka Ultros!) The end part of the story gets really weird, in that way that only Japanese stories can.
If you're a hardcore FF4 fan I'd recommend it, otherwise you may want to pass.

1cc on Normal with GUNGNIR on Version 1.0.1 using Xpadder, just picked up this vertical danmaku shooter yesterday after seeing it in a used game store, pretty easy as I did the 1cc on my first go, scoring involves buzzing enemies to increase the multiplier, will get back into it after it's all patched up and probably will go get the LE sometime soon

Shou needs to get on the Lynx Batman Returns. I'm also (or rather more so) a fan of the SNES and Sega CD ones.
I don't recall the arcade one he posted at all. I'll have to look into that.
I'm playing the Lynx one now but it's painful. I don't remember the Lynx 2 screen being this bad (contrast is way too high, color bleeding...). Oddly enough, there's a collector in Japan who's 1cc'ed every Batman game ever and has written a very detailed FAQ on how to 1cc the Lynx game. lolQuote:

The Batman PCB is quite rare (~1000 produced) so not surprising that you haven't seen it. I never saw it in my youth either.
I like the Lynx, but the thing is bearly playable these days. Those old color LCD screens are hard to look, the Game Gear suffers the same problem. Also, the capacitors are getting old, which may not be helping at all.
One of these chinese knockoff companies needs to make a clone Lynx with a good LCD. It wouldn't be profitable at all, but it would be cool.

I missed out on Demon's Souls despite being intrigued by the premise, so I was thrilled when it's "sequel" was announced for the one current-gen console I actually have. It didn't disappoint. Just under 87 hours, and I probably spent 20 of that doing Darkmoon PvP. Were it not for Skyrim, this would have been my GOTY. Even then, it's a pretty tight race between the two.
3.) Ys Origin (PC)
The English translation patch for this finally hit a little while back, so I dug it out of my pile of shame and reinstalled it. Even more action-oriented than VI or Felghana, especially if you're playing as Hugo. It was interesting to see the classic background story get fleshed out, but slogging through Darm Tower yet again was a bit tiresome. Still, I enjoyed it.
I found my Nomad unusuable 5 years ago, so I sold it. That was before iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.Quote:

Campaign lasted like, 5 hours? Totally forgettable. Multi-player was filled with assholes who expected everyone who played to be fucking Rambo, and the modes sucked. The best part of this release was that it included Frontline for free.
Raymond Origins.
The shooter levels show a lack of confidence. They were right not to be confident; if they didn't need to occasionally divert from the so-so platforming, they wouldn't have. It's an okay game, though.

16:44. Beat it for the first time this year and I really enjoyed it. Perhaps the different art style or items that were not all completely predictable bothered people (whatever the reason it is, let's highlight it), but I liked it a whole lot. The idea of creating a mechanic where you can shrink makes maps gain replayability and leads to more side-quests and discoveries by the player. Fun game and another game down from the Ambassador program (I doubt I'll play them all).

This game is pretty cool. I went into it blind and was happy to find something a lot like Clock Tower, only with significantly more meat to it. Surprisingly long, too. Pretty scary despite some of the enemies being goofballs. Puzzles could have been a little more complicated. Between this and Dead Rising, it's pretty crazy how different Capcom games were in 2005. I miss this sort of thing!
I have that and never opened it! Was really looking forward to it before it came out, too...

1cc, aka Kung-Fu Master, sequel where Thomas can do Guile's flash kick by holding B and pressing up (doesn't need charging and has lots of invincible frames), all of the bosses fall to this move, pretty much the same formula with minor platforming, interesting how it uses fighting game concepts though

1cc on Normal, original sequel on the Famicom which was scheduled to come out in the US according to Nintendo Power, you play as a different Thomas who doesn't have the flash kick but gains the MK uppercut which destroys everyone, like the GB one has minor platforming and if you don't master the uppercut, the last level can be quite tricky

fan made sequel to the NES port of the original game which was made for the 2008 Retro Remake contest, Thomas now gains SF2 Ryu's moves throughout the game in this way faster paced and much more difficult title, found the controls to be a bit imprecise and frustrating on the last 2 bosses who have some tougher patterns (the main reasons why I didn't 1cc), once clearing the game, you can play as the Mr. T lookalike boss

Cave games sure were different in 1997, damn. This is way overdue. Hell, going back to it, it's pretty crazy how parts of this game that terrified me in 2004 are parts that I now find myself toying around with. Feels good! It was a nice change of pace to not worry about transforming or activating slow motion or whatever after all the Akai Katana and Espgaluda I've been playing, too. A pretty clear masterpiece, I think, but I also think it's been clearly surpassed by Cave's later games.
and man, they really do give players a ton of bombs in this.
1) Terraria- while technically there's no ending, I've beaten the Wall of Flesh and played around a good bit with the harder world that opens up after. I'm still playing, but it's complete enough to call it.

#3 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PSP
This game was actually a lot more fun than I would have expected, although Normal mode is too easy.
#4 - Half-Minute Hero (PSP)
Inspired satire of the classic JRPG genre that ends up being a good game on its own merits. Hero 30 is wonderful throughout. EvilLord 30, Princess 30 and Knight 30 aren't quite bad, but they tend to get old quick. Hero 300 was an appropriate epic end to the game while Hero 3 was an awesome extra. Loved it.
#5 - Mass Effect (360)
Excellent sci-fi shooter/RPG hybrid. The side missions get old since every base or science installation is the same as the last, but the main missions all deliver. Most notably this is the first game I've played where I felt the morality system had a serious impact on the story, and that had meaningful and difficult decisions. The combat and inventory are clunky, but I hear they get fixed up for the sequel. Probably gonna start that tonight.
4.) Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD (360)
Back when this first came out I thought it was the biggest load of shark-jumping bullshit in gaming history. 10 years later (and post-MGS4)...well, it's still pretty ridiculous, but at least the story makes a little more sense. Still hated the entire E.E. escort section. On to part 3!
#6 - Corpse Party (PSP)
Really well done Japanese horror game. The biggest negative is that there is no way to speed up conversations or skip cutscenes and you might not notice a mistake that leads to a bad ending until after like 30 mins of playing.
#1 - DLC Quest (360 XBLIG)
Short and sweet RPG/platformer with a sense of humor that reminded me of River City Ransom. Beat it in an hour today with all of the "awardments" and had a blast with it.
#2 - UFC Undisputed 2010
Finally got around to beating the career mode, and did so with a hall of fame induction and champion vs. champion fight, so I got 2 more achievements.
Completed 12 games in 2011, we'll see how this year goes.
1. Star Wars: Force Unleashed (360) - Decent game. Throwing stormtroopers off ledges is always fun. However, some parts got a bit annoying and I did not enjoy the QTEs to finish off the larger enemies.
#7 - Ys 1 - Ancient Ys Vanished (PSP)
Never played any of the Ys games before and I was very pleasantly surprised! Looked up some random reviews after I bought it and they were complaining that the gameplay is dated? I'm glad they kept to the original experience, I figure that's the whole fucking point. Some other dude complained about the music? Kill yourself. I can see how this game would've been impressive back in the day, lots of innovative concepts and it moves at a very, very fast pace. On to Ys II!
11. Transformers: War for Cybertron

Finally beat this after dilly dallying for some two years now. It's a fun game, with the underpinnings of a Gears title in gameplay and laden in Transformers lore in visuals. It was nice, though it became tough to see which part of the scenery is the background and which is the bot I have control over. At times it felt as if they had no means of contrasting Transformers on the screen and their backgrounds save different lighted panels or terminals. I played half the game on Hard and realized the challenge is more health-based and didn't change my strategy from anything than "Cover More" so I played the last three chapters on easy. It does indeed pick up again by the end of the game, so I'm glad for that.
12. Pixeljunk Sidescroller

I am a huge fan of the Pixeljunk Shooter games and bought both titles the day came out and thoroughly enjoyed them. It was very good and when I heard of a side-scrolling shooter, I expected it to be alright, but more of a milking of assets they ever had. And I was very very wrong. This is the best game they've made period. I'd tell anyone to play it because of how simple and yet very enjoyable they've made everything. Even your ships (cough, Japanese) AI stating which guns you switched to in broken English (Machinegan, Reiza, Bum, Revel Tsiu, Revel Three, Revel Max). It goes beyond pure flair, too. Melting ice with a laser gun, overheating your ship in fiery or acid-spewing pits and crashing into water to cool down is still here. Magnet based elements that pick up sludge or dust clouds which ignite at the slightest spark of magna. Also funny Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy and other sci-fi references in the trophies. Actual funny ones. Huzzah.
13. Resident Evil 5

Second time playing since its launch in 2009 (on 360). This time I went through it on PS3 with Move controls. Pretty solid controls, even if it takes an hour to get used to. Played some co-op online with a good friend and had a blast.
14. Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares

Finished this twice with a friend in online co-op and it was pretty shallow. Pretty poor use of tons of assets in 40 minutes. Also seems to go against the common grain of Japanese developers to re-use assets over and over again, unless by this, they meant making use of content they cut from the final game (in very transparent aims to make profit by segmenting a title, like most publishers nowadays).
15. Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape

Jill's derrière and Kanye Josh are dy-no-mite. More of a panic room/shooting gallery than a Resident Evil worthy title, I ended up falling asleep in a cargo box while my partner was shooting the final waves of zombies for 6 minutes. Fuck yeah, teamwork! It was pretty boring.
#2 Orbit. That freebie PSN Mini game from January. It wasn't particularly great, but it didn't require a lot of brain and was oddly relaxing. I ended up getting all but two of the in-game achievements.
#3 DLC Quest. Jeremy reminded me I'd meant to check it out. Completed 100% and entertained as hell. Not a challenge to be found in the game but still pretty funny, although it's so short and simple I almost didn't list in the the Completion thread. Artificial game count enhancement, go!

2) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
I didn't like this game at all when I started. I kept getting my ass kicked, I'm always impatient when I first start playing stealth games, so it was slow going. I got into a groove though. Got the upgrades to make sneaking much easier and effective and stuck with just a few weapons (pistol, sniper, combat rifle, heavy machine gun). I managed to make a lot of good choices so the final boss fight took me about 10 seconds. Good thing too, cause it looked like there was a shit load of stuff to do in that room other wise.
Getting so close to next gen, this game got me thinking about AI. It's so fucking stupid here (everywhere really), I pretty much exploited it non stop. Guards give up really easily, they barely check around...it would be a totally different game and experience with Ai that acted more like a real person. I understand that it's a balance issue for the sake of what would be "fun" for a game, but it's definitely something that needs to be stepped up now.
5.) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD
Soooooo much easier to play in its Subsistence incarnation. The cutscenes still get pretty lengthy, but the plot is much more focused and the characters more memorable than the previous game. That whole sequence with The Boss at the end of the game was just as tragic and beautiful as I remember. The game looks gorgeous in HD!
I'll probably go back and play the MSX versions of Metal Gear 1 and 2 that come with it, but for now I'm moving on to Peace Walker.
#8 - Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished Final Chapter (PSP)
Can't even say how much I enjoyed these games. Perfect updates for some classic RPGs. Highly recommended.
#4 - Need For Speed: The Run - decent racer with some really weird QTE's that just don't seem to belong. Some great environments running from CA to NY. Is it worth $40? Probably not. Definitely worth a weekend rental as that's about how long it'll take you to finish it.
#2 - The Secret of Monkey Island
A little tough and a little on the short side but I enjoyed it and will be downloading part 2
#3 - The Simpsons Arcade Game
This game holds a special place in my memory bank. When I lived in Italy as a kid, I had access to only two arcade games: Joe & Mac and The Simpsons. I would play the hell out of this game but never get very far so it was nice to be able to play through this and play the levels I never got to and finally beat the game.
#2: Arkham City Lockdown: Really short Infinity blade clone with Batman. I like it a lot but it needs more area/bosses.
#3: Skyrim: 90 hours to complete the main quests, Thieves guild, Magic guild and Companion quest. Going to do Dark Brotherhood and Imperial next.
#3 a Voxel Action - This platformer is available via the Xbox Live Indie Service and it's really damn swell. One of the better dollars I've spent when it comes to gaming.
I disagree and I think you would get tired of this rather quickly. For one, not to insult your intelligence, but you probably wouldn't succeed against an army of trained military personnel. Also, I have flashbacks to Metro 2033 where I would do one thing that shouldn't have triggered any alarm in a "videogame" sense but would in real life...and the alarm blared for the entire level. I find the ability to "reset" the situation by escaping is far less frustrating (especially as someone who despises autosaving).Quote:

I totally agree with you. That's why I mentioned the "balance" of improving the AI while keeping it a videogame. Hyper realism isn't what I'm after. For example, the airvents. Make a guard on patrol seem like it's paying attention sometimes. It's in your best interest to close them when you go in so a guard on patrol won't notice a vent that is suddenly open. Have him actually poke his head in the vent instead of just crouching down, seemed goofy every time I just moved over a few pixels so I really don't have to hide to get away with it.
6.) Catherine (360)
Finally got around to finishing the last playthrough on this I'm going to do for a while. Managed the full K, C, and neutral endings. I really appreciate the ability to skip stages you scored gold on, although unlike some, I enjoyed the puzzle stages. Well, all of them except escorting Katherine, which would occasionally make me feel like throwing my controller through my TV. Girlfriend got this for me for Christmas and I was surprised at how much we enjoyed playing it together.
Persona 5, plz! Actually, a proper numbered sequel in the main series would be even better.
