I spent some time playing with just the handheld last night, and I learned a few weird things.
First of all, the button configuration in the options of KoF 95 has a bug where the button function is the exact opposite of what it says. It's probably something in the ROM itself, and I suspect that the bindings are just being written to RAM in reverse order.
The second thing I noticed is that the censorship in Samurai Shodown II goes away if you set the language to japanese and exit the options menu. I later looked it up online, and it turns out that once it's uncensored, it will stay that way even if you set it back to english.
My dpad still feels a bit off off, but it works, so I'll just live with it for the time being. I'll visit my friend in the next week or so and see if his NeoGeoX feels better or more responsive. If it is, I might see about replacing it. To be honest, I'd rather just mod it with something less noisy. The clicky sound on the NGPC was endearing. This thing is just loud.

Yeah, that's apparently a bug in the rom itself, someone said they had played a specific rom in Mame and it did the same thing.
The dpad does some breaking in after you use it for a while. Mine's not as clicky and stiff as it was when new, but all for directions feel equal and good now.

Apparently, USB cables are now 'rocket' cables.

Pretty good game list, hopefully the pricing is fair.

I'm still waiting for the promised system update. The hacks are already out there for those who want to read through 10000 pages of disorganized info and social retardation on neogeo.com, but I'd like to have a simple update tool that can be hacked to inject data to the internal flash.

It would be nice if people would go back and delete all their useless info as the modification process improves.
Like when I modded my Go.What should take 5 minutes to do, took me all damn day because I kept reading conflicting info and guides that were never updated.

I'm still waiting for the super simple "plug usb cable in, hit MOD button" mod.
I fear we may never get anything good, most of the die hard Neo modders/programmers aren't interested in the x at all, and the rom guys will just hop to the next dingux handheld that pops up.

Damnit I'm going to buy one of these stupid things.

Has anyone hacked the planet yet? The internet is a place of lies.
