Who knows? The limited edition sku has been discontinued, which is probably why stores are dumping the old stock to make room for the new package, whatever it is (probably handheld by itself.)
There's actually a limitation in the hardware itself that prevents more than a certain amount of games on a card. Probably to prevent filthy pirates, not that I know any.
One dude doesn't wash his hair or use deodorant.
That's pretty filthy!
Will this thing even play Metal Slug 3 / King of Fighters 2003?
It's capable, but none of those have been anounced for official release. Metal Slug 2 is up next.
So wait. The US censorship is on these games, and your continues are limited? Is there any way around this? The limited continues are what kills this. What if I want to play Metal Slug with people that aren't insane 1cc basement dwellers?
Now reading reviews talking about lag and screen tearing and such. Problem here is I don't know if the bad reviews are written by big tymers, or by normal humans. Do I assume the lag is from people having tvs without a game input? I wish there was a way to play this without throwing a bunch of money at it.
Cheapskate problems.
The game plays exactly like US home console mode. So, censorship and limited continues, except for the games that aren't censored or have blood codes. This sucks ass, I hope Tommo addresses this in the firmware update that's coming. People have been successful in putting a unibios in through software, but I'm not brave enough to do the bullshit that requires rewriting the internal roms to add unibios.
Input lag is solely the TVs fault. (There is a bit of odd audio lag.) The HDMI output is 480p, and like the Wii some TVs lag like shit with 480p content. I run it on a SDTV and it's fine. The bigger issue is image quality. It looks like ass on some tvs and good on others for no apparent reason, I suppose it has to do with the tvs scaler. The X has no image quality options like you would expect.
I played on my dad's Visio TV and it looked pretty good in game mode. I tried it on as Samsung plasma and it played great but looked like ass. On my SDTV I use a HDMI to s-video converter and it looks really good, but the converter messes up the color space a little.
