I think Mzo's still somewhere talking about Parasite Eve tapes.
Those segments have gotten shorter, but there was some talk a while back about making them their own show. So regular theme show one week, WWBP the next week, alternating.
I think just shooting the shit every podcast will make the participants lose interest and not give anyone a compelling reason to tune in regularly. We could do a couple that way as an experiment, but I don't like it.
Yeah, it'd be good to have that while either your or sleeve keeps people on topic or something. Letting Mzo and Chuck and Chris go off on tangents for two hours probably be horrible. The topics right now just seem kind of forced and unnecessary in my opinion
And the worst part is every single time anyone moves away from the timeline because something comes up that you're actually interested in talking about and sleeve awkwardly interrupts Mzo and everything is ruined.Quote:

This. Do a themed podcast every month or two, but stick to current events for the more regular podcast. This will keep your runtime down, and make the podcast more "vital listening" than just "some dudes bringing up old shit"Quote:

See, I think it's the opposite of what a couple of you have said. Topics may be largely about "old stuff," but they give us something different and entertaining to talk about from week to week. Not to mention that the warm glow of nostalgia is important to communities like ours.
The news segments we've done have more or less been the weakest segments we've done. But the possibility I'm worried about most is being needlessly repetitive, which will decidedly not make the show a must-listen.
Week one: more info on the Vita and Diablo III; this week's releases; Eric talks about Dark Souls, Chris and Chuck talk about The Old Republic, Mzo talks about Monster Hunter Tri.
Week two: Wii U rumors; more info on the Vita and Diablo III; this week's releases; Eric talks about Dark Souls, Chris and Chuck talk about The Old Republic, Mzo talks about Monster Hunter Tri.
Week three: more info on the Wii U and Diablo III; new firmare update for the PS3; this week's releases; Eric talks about Dark Souls, Chris and Chuck talk about The Old Republic, Mzo talks about Monster Hunter Tri, Mzo and Nick talk about Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Most video game news either is uninteresting, incrementally builds on last week's news, or both. The show would be too similar from week to week and more people would skip it.
Anyway, that's just my take on it. I think the show is evolving well and I want to tweak the formula, not throw it out. But I welcome more constructive comments.

And just to point it out, because for some reason it's been stuck in my brain since the episode where Nick mentioned it: I guess I'm the only person on TNL who never played System Shock 2, or had even heard of it until a little while ago :bang:
I don't mind talking about current video game goings-on as long as it is incredibly relevant and not some weird tangent that we haven't even really looked too deep into like the SOPA ep. That was probably one of the weakest ones imo.
The thing is between us we have a lot of experience with games and shit, but I know that Chux aside we don't generally rush out and buy every new game that is released. In fact, it's been almost impossible to find a game or even a game series that we have all played. We're going to talk about shit that one or more of us doesn't know about, new or old, guaranteed.
