Yes, this is pretty amazing...even better than I expected.

Edit: looks like you DO have to unlock all the original unlockables, and complete the old challenges, but I don't even mind.

It's on Steam. I meant to preorder this, but I didn't see myself giving it any time between now and the holidays. I played a little of the original last night and it's still fun.

Funny how after all the complaints of no dual analog controls on the PC, I'm playing this on my Vita with the face buttons.

This is all great aside from the new sound. It's not bad, per se. I just don't think it fits as well.

I'm looking forward to trying the update!

Tried it last night for the first time, this game is wonderful! Did the first challenge "Pitch Black" and got to try out like 30 different items, I have no idea what most of the things were doing but it was a lot of fun. I think left stick for moving and face buttons for shooting was the most comfortable for me, and after a few minutes it felt pretty natural.

Yeah. This is a good update. It's kind of easier than the original, and the soundtrack isn't near as good. But it's still a great game.

I completed the challenge where you've got the laser, immediately found the charge attack that's slow but gives the toothpaste laser effect to your blood-vomit, then eventually found an item that makes your shots zig-zag. Kind of annihilated that challenge. I'm really loving this so far.

I bought this earlier this Steam sale and spent a good portion of the weekend playing.
I put over 200 hours into the original, and Rebirth's blown me away. The limits of Flash became really apparent about 2 rooms into this. With the framerate improvement and the native keypad support, there's no reason to go back to the original. Everything (save maybe the music) is better in this version.

The new items have been fun to play with, and I've been having a lot of fun discovering the new item synergy. The first pairing I came across was between Technology 2 and Homing Tears, which causes the laser from Tech 2 to zigzag around the room like a lightning bolt. In the original, Tech 2 would just write over the other tear effects. It gives a nice variety to weapons.

The Afterbirth DLC comes out in a couple hours, I want to say 1:00 or 2:00PM EST today. You can still pre-order the content for $6.66 on Steam. It's supposed to go up to $10.99, but they may still have a deal with the Halloween sale:
