The Darkness 2 (PC, $25) Thanks, Amazon. Steam has it for $50, and the Amazon DL version is identical to the retail disc- Steamworks only, with no 3rd party DRM. Just give Steam the CD key and you're ready. Like Bethesda, 2K thankfully seems to be turning away from SecuROM and going to Steamworks 100%. Hopefully 2K will someday remove SecuROM from BioShock 2 and the Borderlands expansions Zombie Island & Underdome Riot.

Kind of surprised about the pizza. Much better than I remember. Kept its form when held. Not a huge god damn greasy mess. Little bit of crispness on the crust. Amazing improvement for chain pizza.

Pinobee (PSOne) arrived today from ebay sealed and in perfect condition - it was definitely a bit of a thrill to see a sealed PSOne game. Also bought 999 for $20 on Amazon.

Picked up a used copy of Skyrim. Feeling all RPGish after finishing Skyward Sword.
Ordered a refurbished HP BM419AA desktop for $380 from TechForLess. It got great reviews, and seems like a far better computer overall than my current desktop, which was a total blind buy from Best Buy and is actually slower than the XP computer I was using before.

All seven of them are now spayed and/or neutered.
SEVEN!? Goddamn - the vet bills for just my two cats are crazy enough. Spent $500 last month to get their teeth cleaned, and that was with a 10% discount for dental health month.
Two animals in one house is more than enough. Anything past that ranges from a little to super gross.
Getting pets teeth cleaned more than once in a blue moon is for suckers. I mean, sometimes they do need it, but more often than not it's the vets office upselling a service for more dough.
I have an aquaintance who has her pets' teeth cleaned more often than herself or her husbands (and she has dental insurance.) Go figure that one out.

Beyond shots and spaying/neutering, I will never spend a cent on pet health care. If they get sick and die, I'll feel bad but no animal is worth putting thousands of dollars into.
I've explained it before, but the reason we have so many is that two separate households each had two cats so when we merged together there were four. Then my daughter played her accident card for all it was worth and kept bringing kittens home.
Yeah...that describes me way too well. They've had about one cleaning each year, and I haven't been to a dentist in...some sort of number of years. My present cats hadn't been to a vet for about ten years before I started taking them on my own a few years ago. Before that, we'd only take them in whenever needed, and that seemed to work well. Rocky lived into his 20s with occasional vet visits, and Spud's basically in perfect shape at nearly 15 aside from her teeth. Gracie's the one I've sunk a lot of money into though - she had a cancer scare last year, diabetes (insulin w/o insurance covering it is expensive as fuck!), and some major stomach issues two years ago. Once a year isn't bad. I know people who get their pets teeth cleaned more like four times a year because the vet says they "need it." At around $250 a pop, and these people aren't rich, they're just stupid. Of course, they could potentially be rich if they weren't so stupid.
I don't really understand people who spend a lot on cats. My family has had a lot of cats and I'd never thought to pay someone to clean their teeth. Its a fucking cat.

Dogs can be another story becuase some of them provide important functions. I think we'll eventually pay to have my mother's Yorkie turned into a cyborg. He's her pal, alarm clock and people alerter. If anyone steps in their severial acher yard, he lets them know. Which is important for a couple living alone imo.
Cats? they hold papers down, keep laps warm and consume food.

Back when I was living in an old farmhouse, my favorite cat ever was one hell of a hunter. He seemed to have a "home base" code though. He would go out hunting every night and every morning there would be a few trophies on one or all three of the porches. But if a mouse made it into the house, he wouldn't do anything about it. I watched a mouse run across the floor in front of him and he just watched it go and blinked his eyes the way cats do when they're all happy and content. I guess he thought that as long as you were in the house you were a pet and off limits.

I have a 25 pound cat (he's huge), that pretty much eliminated the rabbit problem in my yard. He carried 2 rabbits into the house, just to fuck with them and I had to catch and release them before he made a bloody mess. I haven't seen a rabbit around my house in over a year. The 2 dogs may have scared them out of the back yard, but the cat has pretty much cleared out the whole surrounding area.Quote:
