Monster World still needs to happen.
I remember Sega conducting a poll several years ago with a list of defunct franchises, and asking for fan response of a reboot/remake. Toejam and Earl won if I recall. Whatever happened to that? Were the re-releases of the original games on the digital services the "reward" for that? I loved Toejam and Earl. It was essentially a re-imagining of a roguelike, which is a favorite genre of mine. I even liked TJ&E3 on the XBox despite its mild stereotyping and faux hip-hop. I was saddened when it was never made BC on the 360. I'd back a TJ&E kickstarter easily.
Sega doesn't own TJ&E anymore. This is why they couldn't even put them in the All Stars Racing games. I asked Gereg Johnson about Kickstarting a new TJ&E and he said it was definitely a possibility, but they'd have to finish their current project first. Which they very recently did (DokiDoki Universe on PS4).
The circumstances seem right. Indie developer with original creators owns the rights, game itself seems manageable in size and scope. It really should happen.
Toejam and Earl was always a bad game with funny/memorable sound effects and music.
Toejam and Earl 2 was one of the best games on Genesis. The original is clunky, but totally addictive. Like a classic Amiga game or something.
Shovel knight is looking really good.
That might get a 3DS pick-up from me. Looks like it might play better than the Duck Tales remake.
The sequel to Waves just went up today. I really enjoyed the original and the new one is looking very shiny indeed. Lots of weapons and abilities and a load of multiplayer options, plus level design rather than a simple circle for the arena. I'd post the Kickstarter video but this one will have to do-
