Naw, having a "meaty" pitch video is very important once you're on your second KS. People get really paranoid about a wide variety of things, especially "why aren't you self-publishing now?" There's also a bit more to make people paranoid when your first KS isn't done yet and the graphics look garrish and cheap0. Plus I've heard "He's just milking Megaman, the fuck!" "He wants us to pay for his anime promotional tie-in, the fuck!" etc. So pre-empting that mindset with a very open brass tacks/earnest pitch video can help, even if you have to admit to something inconvenient. The inxile crew have those great boy-as-a-publisher-exec segments, and whats-his-face has always seemed very earnest so they've done well. The kid straight up asks why they're doing another KS when the first hasn't launched yet. In comparison, this pitch vid was: part 1- this is megaman legends part 2 - let's get some video of circlejerking about how great the characters are! part 3 - voiced rough-draft cutscene.

In any case, if it wasn't Keiji "he's just a businessman" Inafune before, it probably is now. He didn't push back against that perception at the crucial moment of needing to do so.

i don't really know how much Inafune had to do with the Idiot Mighty No 9 announcement but i sure do hate that game and it's nothing to do with the game itself, but the idiot way that idiot Inafune poisoned the well that was already full of stupid idiot cynics.

Too much emotion for this low stakes endeavor.

The game will at least get funded with maybe the first stretch goal. Inafune will have the free vertical slice he wanted to pitch to pubs so the real games get made. He'll get the message that he's fucked up, too. The "rules" of kickstarter will be made more clear to everyone. It's a good thing.

And, who knows. Maybe he'll try to save face by making the "full" prologue anyways by wrangling a console exclusivity deal with sony or something. Or maybe comcept will say "in appreciation we'll make the full prologue anyways! Our fans deserve no less. Aren't we great?". Shit, that could already be plan B. Get what you can, then make what you need.

Eh, i hope and half suspect you're right. Sony, probably Shuhei Yoshida, likes being Santa lately.

This one just seems like it's really horribly mismanaged. There's so much good but the baggage from MN9, most of it not even as terrible as people want it to be, keeps hitting. It's like someone wants it to fail or someone along the chain of command of promoting this thiis a bungling idiot.

$100,000 a day over 30 days. What's a mid-Kickstarter slump? Never heard of it...

Beneath the cynicism I'm rooting for Red Ash and its $1.3 million goal. I'd love to see that game get made properly, and maybe have some of the town-building stretch goals they hinted at included. It sounds like something I'd enjoy no end, but it really is too early in the development process to start a Kickstarter campaign around.
