A Dragon's Lair movie could be great and I's love to see a new Don Bluth film period, but a fundraiser for a pitch video is dodgy and there isn't very good swag for the rewards.
Other animators have done well based on offering doodles as affordable rewards, and things like production cels and concept art for higher tiers. Something like that would get my money in a heartbeat. $100 for a DVD I can buy at the store is a no.
I finally broke down and backed the MST3K Kickstarter. It was the second update, where Joel answers some major questions about how and why, that broke me. This campaign has major nostalgia hooks for me in a way that none of the gaming ones do.
If I wasn't between freelance checks at the moment I would have jumped for that one.
I quite like his views on why to not just recycle for nostalgia and that he's pushing for all new actors.
Pretty much exactly that. I was already encouraged when I saw they had an all-new cast, and his explanation at to why was the last thing I needed to read to pitch in. Really wish I could have justified the $100 tier, especially with odds being at least semi-decent they'll earn 9 or more episodes, but that's a bit rich for my blood with Christmas and new PC on the horizon.
Really liking the look of Poltergus. There's some nice world-building going on there, and the trailer is honestly funny.
So that's all 12 episodes of MST3K earned, it beat Veronica Mars by a bit (15 minutes to go as of right now), and a 13th bonus Christmas episode to round it out. Not bad at all. :D
-edit- Bonus 14th episode! Woo!
Woo hoo!
