May 29, 2012 Max Payne 3 - I haven't seen any details on the platform for this. If it has Steamworks, I'll get it once it's below the unacceptable $60 for a PC game. If it's GFWL, I'll wait for a major Steam sale.

Starhawk is a perfect example of a game that looks interesting but that I would never play, so I am wising up and not buying it.

Man, that's kind of a slow month. Diablo III and Minecraft (which I'm purchasing more out of curiosity than anything else), and that's about it. Dragon's Dogma looks interesting, but I'm going to wait and see what the word of mouth is like for it before I commit.

Nothing for me.

I'm going to wait on Diablo III for awhile and I just realized that all the preview videos that Rockstar has put out for Max Payne 3 has me totally psyched for it.

May 15, 2012 Diablo III - I may be the only pc gamer who has never played a Diablo game but I've played and enjoyed many "diablo-esque" games so why not give the real deal a shot?
May 29, 2012 Max Payne 3 - Don't know what DRM it uses but I"ll consider the boxed version since I have lots of Amazon points to use.

I tried the Dragon's Dogma demo - the combat system is pretty cool, and seems markedly superior to similar games (Skyrim, Witcher, etc.).

Isn't DD a western-focused Monster Hunter? I didn't think it was similar at all to Skyrim or the Witcher.

They would be much better games with DD's combat system, at least as far as I can tell.

It really doesn't look anything like Monster Hunter. Why would anybody say that?

I think it's a Japanese take on a western RPG.

I'm remembering way back to the E3(?) unveiling. I haven't followed it at all since, so maybe everything has changed from what I remember.

The first videos and screenshots were just a group of people hunting some big monsters. They didn't show quests or dialogue or anything.

Dragon's Dogma doesn't have co-op, though.

I admit the game as a whole is a bit of an odd duck, but my original comment seems to hold. A lot of these western-style RPGs have absolutely junk combat systems and this has been going on for decades (Ultima VII - brilliant game, terrible combat) and would be undeniably improved with a better one.

I mean, imagine if Skyrim had a Monster Hunter style combat system. That'd be a pretty awesome game no?

All I do in Elder Scrolls games is shoot shit with arrows, so it already works for me. I have no doubt that you are right about melee though. Have you played The Witcher 2, or are you basing your comparison on the first?

I could have sworn I played a demo of DD a few weeks ago and thought it was a buggy cluster-f

Both Witchers have had good combat. I liked the combat in Witcher 2 above the Dragon's Dogma demo, even after trying two classes. Though similar, Witcher 2 has more of a sense of weight and heft, while in DD everyone feels like they're made of baloons and fighting with plastic toys.

Pumped for Mushihimesama. I'll probably get Dragon's Dogma, and peer pressure will probably make me get Diablo.

Friend of mine has an annual pass to WoW and was going to give me his free Diablo III since he didn't really want it. Then we remembered they probably just dump it onto the associated Battle.net account and I got sad.
