So, I Just Finally Picked Up a Wii

A friend of mine owed me some cash but he gave me the option of money or a brand new Wii which he'd only ever used for Netflix so I said to heck with it and took the Wii since his money situation isn't the best.

Now as I hooked this thing up the 1st glaring problem I saw was the lack of HDMi support which surprised me so I just decided to use a component cable I'd had sitting in a drawer to hook this up so now here's the hard question.

Outside of maybe Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles and Super Mario Galaxy, what the hell else is there in terms of great titles to enjoy on this system?

Sin & Punishment, Epic Mickey, Zack & Wiki, Mario Kart, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Sonic Colors, Pikmin, and the two Galaxies are the ones I would recommend.

It also has the best version of RE4.

The best game this generation: Kororinpa.

Was Tenchu 4 any good?

Geometry Wars Galaxies
Metroid Prime Trilogy (expensive)

I'd add Punch Out to Yoshi's list.

And Wii Fit, you fat fuck.

I think you would dig Little King's Story.

As Hero said Little King Story, would also recommend Murasama, Rhythm Heaven Fever, Endless Ocean Blue World, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Xenoblade is a delight, seriously the only thing that could get me to buy a Wii U is a Monolith game of this scope.

All the stuff mentioned above

No More Heroes 1&2 -- if you never played it elsewhere, it's pretty much essential
Boy & His Blob -- solid and cheap, if you're into this sort of thing
Wario Land: Shake It -- beautiful and not too much waggle, also can be had cheap

There's quite a bit of waggle in that game...

It's not egregious waggle, though. Shaking the controller because you're shaking an enemy/object? I can deal with it.

Get a BOSS controller shell - makes side-scrollers much easier to play using the sideways remote setup.

Game-wise, Lost in Shadow and Super Paper Mario are great games I don't recall seeing mentioned yet. Bit.Trip.Complete is a must and comes with an OST disc. Klonoa's remake is great, Sonic Colors is worth owning, and I liked Ivy the Kiwi a lot as well. WiiWare has some good stuff too, like NyxQuest, And Yet It Moves, and MotoHeroz, which is essentially a brighter, more colorful version of Trials.

The gun games mentioned earlier and these are decent:
Ghost Squad
House of the Dead 2 & III
House of the Dead Overkill (better on PS3 now)
Mad Dog McCree (a bit buggy though)


Some other minor recommended titles:
Excite Truck & Excite Bots
Fire Emblem
Oboro Muramasa
Spyborgs

Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Not sure if it was mentioned or not, but it's a must-have if you enjoy video games. And it can be had on the cheap.

It would be really easy to be sure if it were mentioned. I mean the thread was a mammoth 24 posts long, but i would think you could have handled the two minutes it should have taken to read. Then you would have no doubt that it was mentioned. Hell, even if you read the post above yours, you would know.

The post above mine mentions another game with Muramasa in the title. Unless, that is, he was using the Japanese title when addressing a largely Western audience. But only pompous types do that sort of thing.

Big swingin' cock fight in the Wii thread. LOL. I think the Wii has been well-covered in this thread. There really isn't much else to it. I like it though. Cheap console with a few cheap yet good games. Still never played Mario Galaxy 1. I beat Galaxy 2 and loved it to death. It'll definitely be a summer-lull game for me.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is fun if you don't take it seriously.

I've always wanted to play TvC but refuse to get a Wii arcade stick for one game.

In the 3DS store, yes. In the Wii store? Some weeks have no VC releases at all. Just ShovelWiiWare that nobody wants.

Jesus Christ. The one feature of the Wii that i would have supported ( and did at first), and nintendo fucks it up by not supporting it enough, and even worse not allowing it to be easily transferrable.

Why didn't you enjoy No More Heroes?

I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but I heard that No More Heroes is good.

Monster World IV finally got an English release on vc a couple of weeks ago.

Forgot Boom Blox, best multi-player game on Wii by far. Shocked EA never went multi-platform with it.

Deadly Creatures was fun. And it has Billy Bob.

Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People was superb, and fits the Wii quite well. But it can be had cheaper elsewhere.

Only clinch is it's $8 on VC, while the 360 release is $10 and includes Monster Land & Monster World to boot.

I'd only recommend the VC one if MW4 is the only one you care about, saving $2 is a good thing and/or you really dig the Wii Classic Controller.

Also, there's some games on Wii that were multiplat (like on PS2) that aren't too bad if you missed them elsewhere. Dokapon Kingdom is dumb fun, and a few Rune Factory games made their way there. Never thought I'd dig on a Harvest Moon/Zelda hybrid but there you go.

The visual style of some of the boss designs is pretty good (I liked the guy that transformed into a boombox), everything else is trash. The combat is okay at best but more boring than not, the game being highly repetitious by design exacerbates that issue, they ram god awful attempts at being witty into the face of the viewer, and the writing is like a 10-year-old boy trying desperately to make a parody of anime but can't think of anything to do besides make dick jokes. If someone really desperately wanted it because they've run out of better games to play, I'd say get the PS3 version since it's cheaper, has both games bundled together, and runs in a higher resolution but they fucked that up too with screen-tearing and slowdown.
