Among the Sleep

Cliff Blezinski tweeted about this earlier in the day, and then I saw a writeup on Kotaku about it. Sounds like a pretty great concept.

The more helpless you are in a horror game, the scarier it is. This idea is amazing, and I can't wait to give it a shot when it hits in 2013.

Now that I've watched the video, I can appreciate this merely for being a first-person game where you can actually see your person!

If you tell the guy to "punch things" the physical exertion causes him to shit himself.

That was kind of a shitty gameplay trailer.

All I saw was some asshole creeping around corners for no reason, and then what appears to be a scripted event of te baby being knocked down (Instead of presumably crushed).

The concept is really cool, but I hope they actually establish some form of threat.

He was RPing it! Totally getting into the mood instead of looking at it with a jaded gamer's eye and recognizing it was a scripted event and he was probably in no danger at all.

Horror games aren't very scary if you can't die or if nothing bad can happen to you.

It was creepy, I don't know what the fuck you guys want.

Certainly more horror than the past couple of RE's.

I'm surprised no one has complained yet that a 2 year old can't turn that quickly in real life. It's not coming out for a long time, there's still a lot to be done in the game.

A real person generally can't take anything like the damage most games dish out. I'm willing to accept a super-agile toddler for the sake of playability. It's just another gameplay element to accept in order to not drive the player nuts.

I think you misunderstood the intent of my post... I was referring to how people complain about the oddest things in games... games that are supernatural and they complain about something not being "Realistic" for example.

Conventions that are accepted in order to make a game widely playable versus things that hurt immersion because they contradict established rules or are just dumb.

Heh, sorry. I've seen people actually complaining (or at least mentioning) that issue on a couple other forums so I took it seriously.
