Does Microsoft fund original full price games anymore? Seems like they're just going to milk Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable straight to Guitar Hero Hell.
To be fair, at least Gears and Guitar Hero started out good.
Guitar Hero started good and became boring, Gears started boring and became decent with friends.
This reminds me I recently bought Halo ODST. That game is total shit. Why didn't anyone tell me how bad it was?
Gears 3 is the BEST multiplayer experience of all the Gears. It can only get better.

I was going to say that the picture didn't really look like it would be Gears 4. A People Can Fly spinoff makes a lot of sense and would be amazing.

I'd prefer if they made Bullet Storm 2. Once you got the scoring system down it was a shit load of fun. Crazy underrated.
I just saw some stuff on this game, and they changed multiplayer for the worse. I don't want to post everything so here's a link on SRK. I can't believe what they've done with this.
Gears 3 was bad, though.
edit: but those changes sound like shit. Gears without grenade melee is not a Gears I want to play.
Gears 3's online play was great. It still focused on teams. This game puts in FFA and I'm terrified people will play that more than the team-based options and thus kill what made it amazing.

We really need to recap info/changes about this game before TNLers buy it sight unseen. Also the game has apparently leaked recently, which has revealed some additional info. This is what I've gathered from reading bits from other sites and forums, feel free to correct me or add something:
- Class-based Multi-player
- MP modes: Free-For-All, Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Overrun (new Horde/Beast fusion)
- Leaked game shows only 4 maps for FFA/TDM/Dom, and only 4 maps for Overrun.
- Team Deathmatch based on number of kills, not typical Gears lifepool.
- No Execution or Warzone in MP
- No DBNO in MP except in the new Overrun mode, wherein the Medic class can revive stationary downed COGs with the stim grenade, and Grenadiers can be revived by another Grenadier or a Kantus.
- DBNO and execution moves are still in Campaign.
- No Locust in MP except in Overrun mode. COG vs COG otherwise.
- No carrying both a Rifle and a Shotgun, now have to choose one primary weapon.
- No active reload bonuses or stopping power.
Sounds like Gears of War: Call of Duty, terrible. I'll be skipping this.
I've never played Gears before but I've always wanted to try out a demo and none are to be found on Live.
I'll check out the demo for this and see if it's any good and since it's a prequel it's kind of at a good jumping on point I guess.
The triple pack, which includes Gears 1, Gears 2, and the lame Gears 2 All Fronts DLC, is a good place to start.
Gears MP peaked with the first game. I'm a sucker for class based MP, but that's what BF3 is for. I'll try out the demo, but I can't see me picking this up.Quote:

I like the idea of being able to use a shield with any standard weapon. Long overdue.
Got my preorder code to play online now. I work at ass early so I can't try it until the afternoon.

Was just quitting when you came on. Not a huge fan of overrun but I'm buying the game for sure. Took a lot of games to get it all figured out. I think Xp from the demo carries over to the game. So that's cool.

No one bought Bulletstorm. I bought the 360 version, Steam version and gifted another Steam version. It rules.
I got the 360 version to review and also really liked it. I definitely would have bought it on PC too if not for GFWL.
It's one of the few FPS that I played, let alone enjoyed.
I've tried pushing it on people, but I always get asked about the multi.
Everyone seems to want strict co-op or deathmatch. It's sad.
I can't wait until every shooter is a team based MP affair with bullshit unlockables all around.
There will be a lot fewer games for me to buy.
Now that you mention it, if you're talking true FPS, as opposed to BioShock or Dishonored stuff, I can't think of one I've actually finished solo except this any time recently. That genre is the western equivalent of JRPGs to me.Quote:

Played normal team death match for an hour and right now I'd say it sucks. Only one main weapon is dumb. Levels are too big. No locust team is not as fun, makes it too hard to see and hear what teams which. Everyone getting a grenade at start is dumb. Chainsaw takes way too long to start. Sawed off is shitty. No reason to use anything but Gnasher.
Looks nice at least.

Finished this on Hardcore co-op. Must have taken the 3 of us about 8 hours or so and we did most of the declassified missions. Pretty damn good campaign. It's a shame the multi is shitty.

Just finished up finding all the COG tags before I get Bioshock. This really is a great game campaign wise. If you like Gears games check this out. It's really well done. The multiplayer is a huge let down though.
Aftermath felt kinda tacked on but you're right its a solid campaign.

I had forgotten about this game. Now I remember how terribly disappointing the gameplay changes were. The only things it shared with the somewhat successful pervious games in the series was the Gears characters and environments. :sad face:
It's sad that the height of this series was with game 1, both MP and campaign. As much as I loved Gears, I doubt I will ever play anything more than the first 2 games.

Gears 1 MP was great but lacked good match making. Gears 2 MP was awful due to the number of bad maps, the consistency that they came up in match making, and NETCODE. I still play judgement online a bit. Personally I enjoyed 3 multi better because there were TONS of stages and modes. Judgement has a good variety in modes, but not many stages. Also the change up with grenades made the game more fun for me, but I disliked reducing your gun capacity by 1 and the switch weapon as a button press.
