Pretty rad, looking forward to this.
Stoked!
I'm in. Sure 2 wasn't the greatest thing ever but damn is Downey fun to watch in these.
also: Iron Man 3 is at Epic Games ... filming ... something.

Not liking the new armor, hopefully it won't be what he uses the whole movie. Too much gold for my taste
I didn't like 2 but I'm still willing to give it a shot.
Yeah I think there's too much gold too, they need to add more color balance on the front by at least coloring the chest plate and the shoulder guards red along with a few other bits. They're trying to basically mix the concept of the Extremis armor:

And the current Bleeding edge armor:

He'll probably only have the suit on for the last 5 minutes of the movie after the bad guy destroys his regular suit.
Haha, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
The Iron Man movies, while enjoyable, tend to have somewhat rushed/fizzled endings when it comes to the bad guys which is a shame. I don't know if those are just Favreau or budget + script problems but hopefully this movie goes out with more of a bang.
More like tiime constraints, I think, but I agree. Iron Man (and War Machine in the 2nd one) beat the bad guys at the end way too easily, but given the time I can understand it.
Now with Dutch subs.
Now with no subs.
Yes please. Awesome that he seems a bit messed up from all the shit that happend in the Avengers.
Shane Black is writing and directing this. The unofficial father of the Dirty '90s. So I have high hopes.
I wonder if we'll see another cycle of depressing action movies, with the economy being as shitty as it is. Perhaps Looper is the beginning of a "dirty '90s" renaissance?
Tommy Chong is the bad guy?
Some kind of dirty wizard.
Yahoo has the new trailer!
http://movies.yahoo.com/video/iron-m...030044893.html
TOY PROFITS: MAXIMIZE.
For real. Still, that last part is pretty sweet.
Pepper using a suit of Stark's armor confirmed. That'll probably be funny.
Looks like a lot of fun!
Very good trailer.
I've never seen any of these movies. Should I? I kind of hate everything.
Probably not. The first one is a lot of fun and the second is a clusterfuck, but both are very much Comic Book Movies.
I don't mind Comic Book movies. I liked the old Batmans, Watchmen, V for Vendetta and the Matrix. I've heard these are AMAZING and TERRIBLE, so I don't know which to believe.
The first is definitely worth it. RDJ is such a great Iron Man.
Do you like Robert Downey Jr? His performance is what makes the movie work.
I'll find out. The movie is on it's way now.
Waiting on the DVD from Netflix, of course.
I hope you like the first movie.
What I always tell people is, see Iron Man 1 and Avengers, skip everything in-between if you aren't already a fan of the source material.
1s and 0s.
I can't wait for 2s. Those should be even faster.
Ban pls.
I loved Iron Man when it first came out. I saw it 4 times in the theater.
Upon reflection, it's okay at best and only seemed awesome at the time because it is better than most superhero movies.
It all falls apart at the end.
To draw a comparison to Superman, Lex Luthor is at his best when he uses his intellect to battle Superman. When he puts on the dumb power suit, it's gay and laughable.

I would still say that it's one of the best superhero movies, but that's only because the bar is set so low. Today, I can no longer watch Iron Man.
p.s. Matrix wasn't a comic book movie.
I wouldn't say the movie is awesome on its own merits, but it gets carried very well by RDJ. He almost made me not regret watching the sequel.
Speed Racer holds up better than Iron Man. Look it up.
Speed Racer is real good.
Speed Racer was horrible. You guys are nuts.
I understand they re-rendered it for PR, replacing all the cars with 1977 Toyota trucks. Is this true?
No, because then it might actually have been good. Even better if it had lowriders.
I think I would prefer that version too!
Lots of cool info here. Main takeaway: if you couldn't already tell from the trailers, Mandarin is not ethnically Chinese, rather he's a Colonel Kurtz garbed in the mystique of Sun Tzu. And the rings are just rings - showmanship, not magic or alien tech. So, the movie version is only very loosely based on the comic character, but sounds pretty cool in its own right.
Bullshit. He hangs out with Fin Fang Foom or what's the point.
The whole point of the character is that he's Chinese, isn't it?
Ah, who gives a shit.
Can't offend China in the movies, they'll pull all the funding.
Constantine set a horrible precedent.
(though I liked the movie.)
I saw an ad for a Chinese kung fu flick filmed in 3d. Why don't we get shit like that?
I will move to China to see a proper Riki-oh 2 in 3D.
Yep.
Speed Racer was an awesome movie.
The first rule of Cinemania, every thread is a Speed Racer thread. Too bad we can't say the same about Gaming Discussion and Smashing Drive.
Make that change.

Just got back, it was great. You can tell it's not Jon Favreau, but only because it's WAY more violent.
Chux is right, this movie was fucking great. Nothing like the first two, but in a good way. There's actually a good chunk in the middle with zero Iron Man at all, and I didn't care 'cause it was still entertaining. Shane Black pulled it off.
BTW, if I was a Mandarin fan, I'd be pissed at the twist concerning his character, but I'm not, so I didn't give a shit.
Biggest LOL in the movie:
Kid: My dad left when I was 6.
Tony: Dads leave, no need to be a pussy about it.
Tony was king sassy pants of sass mountain in this movie, and I LOVED it.
I can't believe they gave him a kid sidekick and he WASN'T ANNOYING. I actually liked the kid!
Iron Man 2 is still my favorite, but Happys 1999 hair is pretty awesome.
Dude looked like Vincent Vega.
BTW, nice cameo by that dude from IM1 who helped Tony build the suit of armor in the cave.
Yen Sid.
Disney backwards, hurrrrrr
I enjoyed the movie but the one thing that bugged me was You have a tower in New York full of suits, go get one That said, I laughed almost as much the Avengers, and the fight with multiple suits was amazing
No kidding. It's gonna be super divisive; non-comic readers won't care at all, but the fans are gonna HATE what they did with him.
During the drive home I realized they pretty much remade Die Hard with robot suits. Set around Christmas, acts of terror staged for profit, hero is a super-likeable everyman billionaire having the worst day ever...
Ha! Yeah, sorta.
I liked how Tony salvaged Dummy from the wreckage of his home at the end.
As for the post-credits scene, it was funny, but did Mark Ruffalo age, like, 10 years since The Avengers or something? He looked like shit.
BTW, that trailer for After Earth with Big Willie Style and his brat Jayden looked like total ass, yo.
FYI: The writer of this (Shane Black) was Hawkins in Predator.
Great movie. Doesn't top the first one, but at this point I don't think any of the sequels will.
They should make a movie or short series or something of a day in the life of Tony Stark just living his normal life without fighting bad guys.. pre-getting with Pepper, of course.
The only problem I had with this movie though was how they got around from state to state so fast; how was Tony in Tennessee one night, shopping to make weapons and gadgets, then what we can assume is the next day going commando on the mansion in Miami? How did Aldrich get Pepper and Maya to Miami in a matter of a day from wherever they were, which couldn't be too far because they drove away from Malibu? A guess this one can be explained by a private jet.
Ben Kingsley was fantastic.
He was a lot of fun.
yeah, iron man 3 was indeed the shit. his ptsd was very understandable. hell if i fought aliens, almost died in space and met a real life thunder god, i'd be tripping every time i heard new york too. MK42 was had some funny moments. Jarvis seemed to have more personality than he did in the first 2. And the kid had the entire theater dying.
Kid: you're just going to leave me like my father did.
Tony:You're trying to guilt trip me aren't you?
Kid:I'm cold!
overall i loved it. Nice start to Summer movies. now for Fast 6, Pacific Rim, and Man of Steel.
Did IM3 ever explain why the fire hands could shut down the super suits?
Oh Shame on me. i totally forgot about it. I really cant wait to see Sherlock go up against Syler.
Its just hard for me to remember Star Trek when the absurdity of cars bringing down B2 Bombers, and Giant robots fighting giant monsters is being released.
Bojack: i just figured they could melt through the armor and fuse the circuits. They were all pretty weak compared to the comic book Extremis. Comic Extremis was basically a toned down superman that could shoot lightning.
Betcha five bucks the Chinese version has an extra sequence for the Asian Extremis soldiers.
Just finished watching it.
Kudos to Shane Black.
Wiped the sour taste of IM2 right outta my mouth.
I'm not a fan of the bad guys in this. Too xmen ish for me. Other than that I really liked it As mentioned before Tony having mental trauma from all the craziness of the Avengers movie was really great.
Damn did Favreau look like total shit. It was distracting actually. Lol
My only problem with the movie was the whole running the suits by remote control thing. Why does Tony ever need to wear the armor and put himself in danger ever again? He could just hang out in his living room watching TV and if Iron Man loses, no big deal. Hell, JARVIS did a great job controlling multiple suits all at once, apparently we don't need Tony at all anymore. Not a big deal, but whatever.
Really dug it. I loved the way they handled the Mandarin. Introducing a guy with magic rings just couldn't have worked in a way that wouldn't feel retarded in an IM movie. Yeah, okay, The Avengers happened, Iron Man was in it, ipso facto magic and aliens exist in IM's continuity, but moving away from the pseudo-scientific reality of the previous IM movies still would have been super-jarring... Let me put it this way; Justice League movie happens, Batman's in it. Is it okay to have Batman fight Starro in his next solo movie? Shit no.
I know Mandarin's a big muckety-muck in the comics, but he's pretty transparently one of those major villains that only became major because he happened to be the coolest villain-of-the-week in the first handful of issues while writers were throwing darts at the board trying to establish the series, so he's grandfathered into being a constantly recurring villain forever almost solely because of his place in line, not because he really makes sense.
Just saw it. Underwhelming post Avengers. Too much blurry shaky cam. 5 billion suit fight at the end dilutes the effect. Movie should have been called Tony Stark for how little he's in the suit (yes i get that one of the gags is how much he wears the suit). Too many cheap campy gags. I gave no damns about the main villain. And Pepper saving the day was retarded.
The Mandarin's rings were alien tech, if I recall correctly, not magic. It wouldn't have made much difference, however.
Saw it, had a great time, didn't mind in the slightest what they did with the Mandarin.
Really enjoyed Pepper saving the day, too. Side-characters in the comics get powers all the time, why should the movie be any different? Also, bulked-up muscle woman glowing red beating on things while wearing a sports bra is fine by me in any superhero movie it may happen in.
James
It wasn't by accident.
http://screenrant.com/iron-man-3-spo...r-eggs-trivia/
Cute. BTW, I think I was the only one in the theater that laughed at Tony's Westworld joke. FUCK NO I'M OLD
This flick made a god damn mountain of money this weekend. Passed 600 million worldwide.
