I don't see how that follows
If the philosophy out the gate with Nintendo is that the Pad will only be one per system on release, 2 max, then maybe other existing control solutions (Pro, Wiimote, etc) will be given just as much consideration in development.
I mean, so far all the multiplayer games as-is have the Pad as some asymmetric version of gameplay, while the meat-and-potatoes stuff is on older controllers. So I hope the FPS control style that the Wiimote+Nunchuk did so well can get more attention.
Also....'dat world map!
Yeah but this game is on the TV remote control :( I would think this is a meat-and-potatoes game
but it sounded like it's only that way solo? I thought the multiplay forces the controller to be the platform-maker?
Yeah but I am going to play it solo and I want to use the Pro controller ;p
Yeah. You can play with other people doing the normal (stupid) Mario-Luigi-Toad-WhythefuckToad thing, and have another person using the controller. I think the version that was on show was still incomplete, so it might change. I've read that the tablet controller is usable as a controller as well, although i can't find anything really clear as to if it's the way i described it, or if you get full control of your character.
It would've been a great question to ask when the guy said "Come find me if you have questions about Wii U!" but the only thing i wanted to ask was "DRAGON QUEST DRAGON QUEST DRAGON QUEST?"
Well, what is the big deal with SMW's world map?
To me, its another form of world-building. It's a small thing, but seeing everything connect makes it all feel like the part of a large world, which is a nice little touch. That's why I understand it's nothing different from a segmented map, technically, but its a nice little touch.
I'd forgotten SMW even had that.
You could pause when Mario was crossing a bridge, and that fish just keeps jumping again and again.
Played through the first world, the Acorn Plains, and it's great stuff so far. Game looks fantastic and vibrant, and level design is top-notch so far.
Eh, i will wait for an impression after the new car smell has worn off.
I'm already aware of the common gripes of this game. Visuals, music, etc. being the same thing (it's similar, not the same). I'm more interested in how level layouts work. NSMB on DS was awful, it was amazing on Wii and 3DS is pretty solid.
One thing I've seen is that the Pad can ONLY be used for an in-game player in solo mode. Add another player and you get flipped to block-laying. Kinda sucks...I thought that would only happen when you try to introduce a 5th person.
the block laying is so so lame in this
Like, that LUA script that adds Canvas Curse line drawing to Mario 3 or even the one where you can throw around SMB1 objects with the mouse are a million times cooler.
It's impossible to resist the urge to be an asshole with the blocks though. Jumping over that pit? don't think so.
Ghost houses in this game are just so fucking awful. And the mini-boss castles bosses are so bad. Just the easiest thing ever and it doesn't change at all. They add a gimmick to the fight that doesn't matter.
Was not a big fan no, though that one is better than any of the dark room ones. Got really frustrated with it and it's more puzzle solving instead of platforming which isn't really that interestingly done in Mario anyways. Blue coins, find which wall to run into! Also every world having the exact same layout is kind of annoying? They mixed it up with Soda forest, but it's still always a level or two, two levels side by side before the castle.
Hey! I heard Pro Controller support was patched into this. Confirm/Deny? I want to throw my wife into a bottomless pit and this seems to be an easy way to do so.
I only know it is for SP. Not sure if MP has it patched in.
According to my Google-fu, you should be G2G using a Pro Controller when playing Multi. Note that I think with Multi that you both need to be playing using a non-gamepad controller, and the gamepad is then relegated to block-making.
Yeah. I have a Wiimote Plus and a Pro Controller. EXCELLENT.
I'll let Lily do the block making. We'll find out who she loves the best.
Who does she love the best after all
Fucking with both of her parents. That's what is best in life. She put a block over my head, which made me fall to my death much to Steph's amusement, then she put a block in her path that made her fall in lava. After Steph left, I got to a level with gears in it, she reversed the direction of it and squished me against a wall.
IT WAS A GREAT TIME. Nitnendo Magic yall.
Edit: I made a post about it on Facebook, but I really did mean that it was an really fun family time experience.
Ha ha ha, that's actually pretty great.
Was she laughing maniacally as she screwed you both over?
