Yeah 2 is also very good, gunna go through that one first and then import that Sheppard and restart 3.
ME1 is massively flawed, but it has an enormous sense of scale. It feels like a really big game. It's a sense that ME2, for all its improvements, lost. ME3 recovered it to some extent.
I think ME1 is worth playing for that sense of scale alone.
The problem with ME1 is that everything except for that sense of scale and backstory is just awful.
The combat mechanics are terrible.
The inventory system is the worst I've ever seen in a game.
The Mako controls like shit.
The planets are annoying to explore about 80% of the time (whenever the Mako has to go up an incline).
The subquests are all the same shit, and are terrible.
And even the best sequences in the game (like the end battles) haven't aged well at all. I don't think the game is worth going through in order to look at a bigger Citadel and a slightly more detailed Codex.
I will retain my fond memories of it until the day I revisit the series through PC, and then I will probably hate myself.
Who came up with the 'turn shit into gel, rub gel on shit' idea? That dont make no sense!
Proper use of the tablet could be cool.
Not holding my breath on seeing "proper" use.
Inventory on the tablet, can turn everything into gel in record time.
I heard the PC version eliminates some of the big problems with the 360 version, namely performance, interface, and Mako controls. But it still has the bad combat and subquests.
If I had to make a list of most overrated games ever, Mass Effect 1 would be very high on it.
