Bayonetta 2 (Wii U, published by Nintendo)

If only that whiny Bayonetta fanbase had bought a Wii U, Nintendo would be in a completely different situation right now! 10,000 more sales mean EVERYTHING

That doesn't make sense either. He wasn't saying that the Bayonetta fanbase could have saved Nintendo. He's stating a fact that Bayonetta was saved by Nintendo. Why anyone would bitch about something they either never intended to actually support, or on the other hand, bemoan that it exists instead of not existing, is totally beyond me.

I'm surprised Sega was disappointed with the first one's sales. It sold over a million copies. Did they seriously expect more than that given the genre it's in?

To be fair, Sega also published Vanquish and Anarchy Reigns, which came out in a relatively timely manner after Bayonetta. I guess the sales of all 3 averaged out to below par of their expectations.

To be fair to what? Platinum specifically stated that Bayonetta sold less than they expected it to.

All of Platinum's games performed poorly for Sega. Bayonetta was the only decent one. Platinum's producers didn't even listen to feedback from Sega on how to make their games sell better so that's why Nintendo had to fund 2.
