I don't know how much it hurts the game... but the Ambush events really are the worst part of the game, without question. Weirdly, I get the feeling even the developers know this, as they are -- by far -- the least frequent events that come up in the SP game.Quote:

When this game is at its best, it's really good. But I said that about Hot Pursuit (which I think is fantastic). I'd love to see them to a closed circuit game or a futuristic racer.
When we were playing Halo somebody said this was going to be dirt ass cheap on Black Friday.

Going out on Black Friday sounds gross. Maybe if Amazon does their 50% off like they did with HP.

Ambush blows and a lot of it is luck. And, as much as the above bothers me, the Most Wanted races weren't really all that hard. I think I completed 9/10 on the first-third try. The last one is giving me some grief.
Also, having to go to a location to get a car is dopey. Once you "find" the car you should be able to switch wherever you are. It bugs me that I set a destination/race, decide to switch cars, have to go to a new location, and set the destination/race.
Finally, aside from the dumb pop-ups/speedwall notifications, the rain & sun glare are a bit over the top. Decent racer, but I feel like a lot of the elements of why I don't do better aren't in my control.

Underused green barriers for races. I always find myself going slightly less than full speed for fear of not knowing which route to take
Yeah, I spent *a lot* of time chasing down those fuckers after beating them, setting them up, only to have them run into a guard rail or another car and I blow right by them and then trying to find them again or wait for them to appear again. Agree on the poor use of navigation, too - can't focus on the race, the cars, the cops, the obstacles, the turns, and stealing glances at the nav in the lower corner to figure out where to go.
Also, agree that restarting a race shouldn't be such a pain in the ass --> wait for cinema to end -> wait for HUD to come up -> scroll all the way down -> restart race -> no -> yes
