So if I lose nothing when I crash and nothing when I get busted, why do I care what happens between races?
So if I can't enter a race if I'm being chased by cops and driving fast provokes cops into chasing me, I guess my Need is actually for Safe, Orderly Driving?
Yeah, having to deal with cops in-between races was a terrible design decision. The upside is that you can rack up SP quickly by going on lengthy pursuits and then losing them. I got 40k for an 8 minute chase.
This game has the worst soundtrack ever.
Edit: I also really don't like how the MW races basically become a test of memorizing where all the bullshit spike strips are located later in the game. It's especially lame when a cop gets right in front of you and throws one down.
The dumb thing about not being able to start an event while the police are chasing you is that you can actually start the event if you have played the event previously, from the Autolog menu.
Some of the design decisions in this game make no sense whatsoever.
Yeah, I know. Poorly worded as I was talking about retrying the last race after you've completed the race. You can restart in the middle of the race easily enough. I kind of don't get why you're stuck with your car if you travel to the spot instead of starting a race via the map/autolog recommends (which allows you to choose a car to race with). Don't really like the whole "hunting for jackspots" thing, either or the fact that if you want to get to a destination you're almost guaranteed to be chased by the cops unless you get there slowly. That bugs me more than the ambush racers.
And, online/multi - public is annoying. It's like demolition derby, race to a spot, wait again, sometimes have some dopey challenge like every racer has to have two takedowns before an event is finished, and you still haven't raced yet.
Don't think I'll be sticking with this nearly as long as either Burnout.
The jackspots (really? That's the name they chose?) are just stupid in general. I go to choose another car, and it asks me which location I want to go to (if I've found more than one). I don't give a shit where the car is, I really just want to drive the car. When I see the locations listed, I don't really know where those even are and it's pointless to even know. You could at least know what street you were on in Paradise. It's a total crap shoot on if one location would take me closer or further away to the next race I will choose next. I don't even know what race I can choose from until I get into the car, plus I'll just choose "start race" if I'm able to.
I got the Vita version of this and was playing it a bit last night. Seems on par with the home console versions, with the same strengths and weaknesses, but is overall a great portable game. The game is a lot less busy than the console versions though, the town is huge but there's not a whole lot of traffic around, and the races only seem to have 5 cars in them.
On the other hand, I didn't have to be in a crappy car for long, and I've been tearing up the last few races in a frickin Ariel Atom. I <3 that car.
Also, nobody has the Vita version, so my speedwall is forever alone!
wound up getting the PC release since new video card. Pretty looking game. This is so clearly the sequel to Paradise I wonder if they just got told to change the name 3 quarters of the way through.
I am disturbed that even though I haven't added anyone who is playing this to my friends list in Origin (well, just now I sent Diff a request, but never mind that) I can see at least two people on my times.
I ended up with Chux and another bud on mine, even though I'm pretty sure they are both playing the game on another system.
Yep. I'm on 360.
The game is great but all the annoying things listed earlier really add up. I just want to fucking race.
It's not a bad game, it just doesn't offer a reason to stop playing MW 2006, Burnout: Revenge or NFS:HP. If those games didn't exist, I'd play the hell out of, well, Burnout 2. But if that game didn't exist, I'd play this a lot.
So my cousin bought me this for Christmas. On the PS3. Interestingly my Most Wanted Score transferred over, but I have to acquire all of the cars again. Certainly prettier on the PC, but not pretty enough in my opinion.
Criterion shows off the Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted
More like "bored girlfriend mode."
Did they do anything with the PC performance of this? It was choppy no matter what before.
Folks on Neogaf were saying there was a patch released that really improved PC performance.
Yeah, I bought this on 360 and then PC. Good game
Yea, I tried it out and can see that.
However, there's a bigger problem, and it's that this game fucking blows. It's really no fun at all. The "lose the cops" missions are amazingly bad. I ditch them and the game spawns about 600 all around me. And the way the cars are fixed in one spot is annoying, and the easydrive menu thing seems nice but every time I hope in a new car there's a whole new list of shit and I need to drag my ass around.
OH, and there's nothing better than having to deal with cops while I am in the process of dragging my ass around. It's really great.
I wasted my money big time.
The cops really do suck, I have no idea what they were thinking
I like how they are promoting the map on the pad screen for the Wii U edition. Yeah, diverting your attention even further from the screen is a GREAT idea.
It's so the annoying female voice giving you GPS directions can be your wife/girlfriend.
Yuck.
Pretty much. If you're a marketing asshole, "yuck" shows up as "asynchronous multiplayer" on the Powerpoint slide.
I still think the racing is a lot of fun. I got it for 25 the other day (minus 23 credit so 2 dollars).
This has a new patch. I was playing it again and I swear there is less cop bullshittery. But maybe that's just where I was. I am replaying it on PC. There's a ton of DLC and I kinda want that.
It seems easier to evade at lower levels, less cops coming down the street at you or something.
I might just give the game another try then.
Don't make me look at this again. FUCK.
I hear the patch is fucking huge, is that all it does is fix the cops stuff? or did they include more dlc to unlock (possibly including an update to fairhaven or whatever the fuck paradise city is called now)
more dlc
There are more cars, events, billboards and another section of town I think.
They plunk an airport down in the vast abandoned area to the East. I got it and found it kinda amusing how the roads for the DLC look like brand new blacktop, while the regular highways look a little older. It's not bad as far as DLC goes, but it is more of what you've already played. There are two new race types, which unlock new upgrades. There's smash and grab, which requires that you smash signs of varying values until you acquire the needed points to win the medal. And then there is uh...the other one. Which is just an excuse to get you drifting. The drifting ones all take place at night. You have to drift the car through a series of gates. Each gate is worth a certain amount, drifting at all is worth a certain amount, and chaining gates together while drifting will create combos, which will increase your score. Crashing your car will kill the combo, and as the gates are just two white lights pointing upwards, I find it a little difficult to tell which one is supposed to start the series at times. The smash and grab events unlock drifting tires, and the drift events unlock a new kind of boost that works when you in mid jump.
I played the Vita version of this that was free during PSX some last night. It's pretty impressive technically, but I'm not sold on the game itself yet. I much prefer the track format to open world. If this were a port of the PS2 Hot Pursuit, I'd be in portable heaven.
It's really bad.
