Yeah, that's true. It was pretty easy to call, but I still had a slight bit of hope until after I saw the movie. No matter what, the movie is still awesome, and I'm going to see it again on Sunday. It's kind of difficult to say where I would rank it among the original trilogy movies, because the original movies have 30+ years of nostalgia to tint my view of them. All I know, is that Episode 7 feels like a natural progression from the original trilogy, and that's nothing but a great thing. There is no pre-quel stench to this film...
...BUT (I don't think this is a spoiler, because it's more of an opinion than anything)....I do think the Darth Maul/Obi wan light saber duel in Phantom Menace was better than any of the light saber segments in The Force Awakens. So, The Phantom Menace may have had ONE SCENE that was better than the action scenes in the Force Awakens, but one scene does not make a good movie. As a whole, Episode 7 is quite simply a better constructed film in every other regard.
