Star Wars: Episode VII

I also have a feeling that a decent amount of time is going to pass between 7 and 8, and in that time, Kylo Ren is going to get some of the much needed training to bring out his full potential. Yes, Rey stomped all over Ren, but I can see this becoming a much closer battle over the next two movies.

I've always been a big fan of movies telling just enough to make the singular experience great, but leaving enough hints for people to discuss possible theories until we get answers in the follow up. Granted, that is only if there is a follow up, but Star Wars has a ton of other sources for info and side info compared to what is going on in the big picture.

Yes, Empire Strikes back is simply a far better film than A New Hope. More depth is added to the character arcs, creating characters who are much more richly nuanced, and less flat sci-fi caricatures. Even side characters, like Lando Calrisian, are given more depth than the characters in the original. Meanwhile, The Battle on Hoth is the best opening to any movie in the series, and the Luke's Father/Han in carbonite scenario is the best ending to any film in the series. It gives the viewer higher emotional ties to these characters and sets up the excellent opening rescue on Tatooine, in Return of the Jedi. Meanwhile, A New Hope kind of just ends...and doesn't really set up any future films.

I will give A New Hope one advantage over Empire Strikes back though. Obi-Wan Kenobi IS a better character than Yoda. The Yoda scenes in Empire almost put me to sleep, if I'm to be quite honest. Yoda is a cool character from a visual standpoint, but the sequences of him training Luke go on for far too long, and they do break up the flow of the movie.

Definitely just my opinion. :) I was just trying to use less of that "for me" phrase, that somebody was irritated about on here. lol
