It's all anyone's guess right now, and who knows what the history of Rey is, but you are assuming she hasn't had any training at all. What if Luke partially trained her when she was young, but had to be hidden and had her mind force wiped for her protection? What if this whole series of events, and Ren toying with her mind, awoke her force skills? I'm not digging/buying the whole she learned how to do everything from reading Ren's mind.
Ren said "force", and Rey remembered "oh yeah, force" and closed her eyes and let the force flow though her. Just like when Luke used the force in ANH.
She didn't read his mind there.
That's not how the force works.

Every character in this movie are in the shadow of Luke or Vader. He was also gut shot with the wookie cannon that they went out of their way to show rag-dolled stormtroopers. They also went out of their way to show Rey was abnormally gifted at exploring the force—probably because of the vision she had.Quote:

Finn is so similar to Han, he's like the character that is neither a part of the dark-side or light-side; but being generally good hearted and caring about people that he likes leads him to act mostly for good. He really gave zero fucks about killing Star Killer, his only motivation was the survival of him and his friends.
My theory about Rey is that she was probably similar to Anakin in being REALLY talented at a young age; she must be related to Ben in some way, whether blood, a youngling he was mentoring, or maybe showing aptitude in the force well beyond his (a rival?). When Ben slaughtered the academy, I think Luke probably took her away to protect her from Ben or Snoke's influence, because since she's so powerful she could have the same problems as Anakin, so shielding her from teaching prevents her from being a threat to the galaxy like Ben is. I think the on-going theme will be Ben fighting the lure of the light side while being sith, and her fighting the lure of the dark side while she's jedi.
Hmm, go figure. I was just luke warm on all of the new cast, not bad not great, but I'm glad you guys enjoyed it so much! I'm sure you will have a good number of new films with them in it to look forwards to as well instead of just three if Disney past is anything to go on.
@Dolemite: I think Luke clean beats vader at the end of ROTJ, their final fight.
Remember Knights of the Old Republic? The undisputed, world champion, most "Star Wars" thing outside the original trilogy (and now TFA), including the prequels? Which of those four characters were in that, again?Quote:

For all the implications of a high-tech space-faring setting, the story still feels very small. The Star Wars universe and the ancient story structure it was modeled after is much bigger than its specific characters. I understand this a passing-the-torch thing, but, man, what an expensive endeavor to just do that and tell essentially the exact same story.
