Jane Jensen's Moebius has a trailer.
I was never as excited about this one as the others, but I have to say considering how low-budget it was, it's looking pretty decent.

Looks very clean and smooth, I like the style.
Ruh Roh...
So SpaceVenture put out their first video update, after nearly a year of development. While what they're showing looks good (better, in fact, than I was expecting, given that it was pitched as a 2D, very retro affair), I can't help but feel like the project is not where they need to be at after a year of work.
Am I overreacting?
Anyone else playing the Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded beta? Seems pretty close to final, with some minor bugs remaining.
Graphically, it's pretty mixed. Nice backgrounds and some of the sprites are good, but the character art is wildly inconsistent, mostly because the majority of the minor characters are backers, and drawn more realistically. I kind of don't like that. The menus and font choices also look really cheap. But then, it all looks better than the demo they showed during the Kickstarter campaign.
The remake itself is pretty good, though. The writing especially, has been heavily redone and is very funny. There's a unique response for almost everything you can try, which brings back some of that fun of just experimenting and being silly that made the original so good. The voice acting is very good and sells the jokes well, and everything except inventory descriptions is voiced.
A lot of the design has changed, but not so much with an eye for improving weak puzzles. It's actually more like Curse of Monkey Island's hard mode, where there are extra puzzles and old puzzles have extra steps in them. There's a new area with a new girl and a fairly complicated puzzle for dealing with her. The cheap deaths are still there, but they're made a non-factor by allowing you to respawn where you were, but other than that, the game is actually a little harder, although none of the new puzzles were unfair and I beat the game ok. There was one that I think will be a problem for new players though: the hammer in the dumpster is harder to get now, and can't be had by just searching, but if you don't even know that there is a hammer in the dumpster, it probably wouldn't occur to you to do this.
Overall, pretty good. Best version of the original Larry for sure. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Larry 2, which is a more seriously flawed game. If they stay as close to that as they did with this, I'll be disappointed. I think that one almost needs to be redesigned from the ground up. Just keep the locations and story, but scrap the puzzles.
I was really happy when I heard that they were adding unique text for practically every item combination. That's the best part of the Ben and Dan games.
The Starship Damrey is out today on the 3DS eShop for $8. First person space horror adventure game by some Level 5 guys. Maybe more on the VN side? I'm hoping there are a good amount of puzzles.

I'll probably be getting it.
Looks cool.
So Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded is out for real now, available for purchase on Steam and all that. They actually did a decent amount of work on it since the beta. The interface in particular has been cleaned up a lot.
