Completion Thread 2013: Prove the Justice of Our Culture

8) New Super Mario Bros. 2 - I was going to wait 'til I finished every path of every stage, but I think I'm satisfied with beating MOST of the stages and at least clearing all of the worlds. There were a handful of good stages but most everything just centers around gathering coins despite it really having no purpose aside from a second score. Internet high score tables would've been great, Miyamoto! What's wrong with you?

I liked it a hell of a lot more than I though I would, though! I even bought the Classic DLC pack just to try one. THOSE are some crazy levels. I wish the rest of them were like this!

9) Journey - Does this even count as a completion?

Aesthetically, this is probably the most wonderful thing in the world. Gameplay-wise, I started to get bored until the final few bits.

Overrated, but still really great!

Journey was too short to get boring, but yeah, the gameplay is nothing special.

Agreed, although I'd qualify it as just decent.

Sewer Shark is probably the ultimate good bad game. I love it, I need to try and track down the 3do version.

I haven't pulled the trigger on Double Switch because there's a Saturn version that I assume is way better.

7) Crysis 3

I play every Crysis game as soon as it comes out, and I was a staunch defender of Crysis 2, which I think was unfairly maligned because people confuse less open space for a lack of freedom.

But I really was pretty disappointed with this. While it had glimpses of real Crysis gameplay in there, it was mostly really linear, contrived levels that didn't allow for much experimentation. Stealth was way overpowered, and the addition of the bow only made that worse, so that you really weren't engaging in a lot of gunplay, which was a strength for the series. The story kind of fell apart toward the end, and I don't really get how he magically got to outer space right by the satelite and then moved it with his bare hands in zero gravity? And then fell back to earth from fucking space and lived happily ever after without his suit but with it. I stuck with it because I wanted to see the end of the trilogy and I wasn't particularly satisfied in the end.

Bioshock Infinite, you are now my fps hope for 2013.
