It's not really any worse than people messing with their phones all night.

A bar is a place for social gathering. Being seen with a phone is not the same as being seen with a shield.

Would you sit in a bar by yourself with an Oculus Rift on your head?

I was at a bar at 10pm or so on a Saturday night and there was this guy sitting there on his Surface. I didn't even realize anybody bought one of those.

I bought one (SP3). They're awesome.

Surface is pretty sweet. It's just the price barrier really.

I just want something that can run emulation up to PS1 and has a nice controller. I don't have a PC and don't care to get one.

Is that this thing? Am I describing my phone and I don't know what I'm doing? Is modding Wii U a better idea?

This can emulate a PS1, yes, but you don't even need that much.
