Spiffy looking video with some killer atmosphere. Definitely has potential.
If this really didn't have a thread already then TNL is slipping severely. This was all anyone talked about at E3.
I looked and was surprised that I couldn't find one, but I'm terrible at using the search feature.
Ignore this post.
I think we just lumped this into extended E3 talk, it's so far off no one bothered to break it into its own thread.
Pretty much. It should be neat... one day.
Well, now it has a home for when I check back on it in the future.
What is this for?
This looks gorgeous. This can't be on console.
It's suppose to be next gen I thought.
Nope, this gen.
The assumption is that the 360/PS3 version will be some kind of interim release and there will also be a next-gen version. The E3 video seems like it's pretty far ahead of current consoles.
I believe the E3 demo is running on PC.
Has to be running on a PC. No way that's current-gen console.
Yeah, the demo was definitely running on a PC. So was Star Wars 1313, I think. That had a gameplay video, right?
The important thing is that the developers were a little coy about potential platforms. Ubisoft: http://kotaku.com/5916567/e3s-unsolv...next+gen-games

a rep wrote this to me: "So far we have only confirmed PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. However, since Watch Dogs will not be shipping this year, we have time to build content for multiple platforms should we choose to. We'll continue to update you as details become available."
Does anyone else remember a different ending to that demo shown above?
I remember it having some potential multiplayer implication. Where as the main character drives away he speaks to a contact on his device, and it shows more and more connections, all helping him escape.
You are correct.
This used to be my signature, and it's very appropriate here: "Demoing your game on PC is the new CG trailer."
Ubisoft reveals Watch_Dogs release for PS4 launch as well as for Wii U:

If you look at the specifications of the PS4 look, you see that it looks pretty on a PC. Is porting games to PC and vice versa PS4 and therefore easier?
Yves: We have, in my opinion, but a game that had really had problems with a port and that's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. The PC project could be better managed. But with the other brands there is a lot of time and effort in which all platforms have the perfect game.
We also expect fewer problems with porting games to the PS4 than the PS3, which had a completely different infrastructure. It is now easier. Previously, we developed first games on the Xbox 360 and which were then translated into the PS3. It took a lot of time and money to make that port. Now we develop from the PC and which versions are translated into a console like the PlayStation 4.
Woohoo!
That's certainly the easy way to go, although I think the PS4 is going to need a little more attention to really get the most out of it. Straight PC ports will run, but they won't really be optimized. That might be why Watch Dogs wasn't as impressive as some of the other stuff shown on the system.
I can't remember where I had the debate with Yeller, but here is more evidence in support of why I am excited about the future:
Master Race, suPCority, Heil der Computer, etc.Quote:

Delayed til next spring. lololol

Basically "Sorry bros".
Amazon's current stance is that if you pre-ordered the Watch Dogs launch day bundle, you won't get jack shit until the game actually launches in Spring. So....I guess my getting a PS4 can fuck off until 2014. Even if Amazon makes good on it somehow, that game was pretty much the only one I was looking forward to on the system.
Ubisoft managed to fuck over both the Playstation and Xbox fans in one blow. That's impressive.
Ubi gonna Ubi.
doesn't change much for me since the only PS4/XB1 games I was planning on buying were exclusives, but this is going to take a lot of the excitement out of the console launches for a lot of people
Yeah, this wasn't on my radar, so I didn't get the Official PS4 bundle, but a lot of people are salty sailors about it right now.
Ubisoft has lost all cred in my eyes after Liberation and ACIII, I'm wait and see status for everything now.
Now there's one big third party game coming to the Wii U in 2014! :p
Sucks though for George and others who had pre-ordered a PS4+Watch Dogs bundle. Would have been nice of Amazon to offer another game bundle to those customers, although that might be a giant pain to work out.
I believe I mentioned it before, I thought it was kind of dumb to release Splinter Cell: Blacklist in late August, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag in late October, and Watch Dogs in mid November so close to one another. Especially when Watch Dogs might be more derivative of Assassin's Creed/Far Cry (Ubi gonna Ubi indeed) than many fans might suspect, nevermind if their expectations are based on that initial E3 trailer, so I've been keen to see how the reaction to the game will be.
I kind of wish they would delay the game until next fall so that WD and AC can just alternate every other year instead of having 900+ people churn out a yearly installment that might not turn out to be that good.
I was bored to TEARS with it. I spent 5 or so hours with it, got to where you actually are Connor, did some ship stuff and it wasn't for me.
Not a big deal to me but if it means a better and less buggy game then that's fine.
Quite frankly there are tons of games out there so this shouldn't really induce tears or anything unless it was your main PS4/Xbox One game or something but even then the launch lineup still has a bunch of other games that should keep people busy well into the holiday season.
You think they played GTA5 and were like "fuck"?
I would have. GTAV is the truth.
Fuck this was my launch game.
I might cancel my PS4 reserve, I want to support the but what is the point if there are zero games I'll play at launch?
You like making a couple of cents off Steam cards, right? Figure it out.
That is so unrelated I don't even what is this?
uhhh
I'm only hanging onto my preorder to flip it.
Ohhhh
With Internet selling fees they'd need to go over $550 for that to be in any way profitable. What's the odds of these hitting that or higher?
Craigslist is your buddy. I've sold every iphone I ever replaced on there. Just bring a friend. And don't meet at either of your houses.
I bring a surly disposition and menacing stare.

May 27 on everything but Wii U
I have it from an inside source that the Wii U port is due a day before the Colecovision one
So WiiU either gets canned, or some third rate developer does a shitty, un-optimized port and when it releases everyone says "See, WiiU sucks."
In May, it would have gotten cannibalized on Nintendo hardware anyway. That month already has Kirby, Mario Golf, and Mario Kart.
I was looking forward to this game but for some reason I no longer am. The delay really pushed this into "I no longer give a shit" territory.
The delay coupled with the realization that it's going to be more UPlay crap did the same to me. Someone can wake me up when it's $20, just like Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
The new trailer looks like garbage compared to the E3 footage
Last minute delays are usually a sign that something was seriously wrong, but maybe it really was just a matter of polish.
I'm still cautiously excited, but like any game reviews will be a factor in how soon I jump in.
What the hell happened to the textures? Polygon has a lot of new (playstaion) footage and there is some serious pop up going on too.
Comparison GIF between E3 2012 trailer and the most recent one running on PS4.

I don't know where the second clip is from, but it is for a fact not from the new trailer. Scroll up and watch it.
I can't find the source for the second clip, but I would strongly suspect it's from the last-gen versions, despite whatever some NeoGAF troll might be claiming.
It comes from actual gameplay footage. Which has been confirmed to be from the PS4 version of the game.
Watch it yourself here

Some sections are not as bad as that gif up there, that seems to be some of the worst, but this game looks NO WHERES NEAR the reveal trailer.
I think even by last September, we saw some things dialed back from the initial E3 reveal (which was a PC version based on what Ubisoft was speculating about next-gen consoles before they actually had next-gen dev kits), but even still it seems inconsistent with even the new trailer and screens.
Yeah the inconsistencies are the difference between running on high end PC vs running on PS4/Xbox1

The currently advertised build still looks pretty good even if the highlighted car/bridge sequence has shockingly bad lighting and lack of reflections.
On foot sections looks fairly close and they didn't really show off the all the weather effects and locations that much in the trailer so there's probably more to see on that front.
It's interesting that both current gen consoles use AMD chips, but Ubisoft partnered with Nvidia for the PC enhancements.
edit: It's still not a very impressive looking game, but it could be at least in part due to the size of the city I guess.
That's a lot closer to the 2012 demo than what we've been seeing on console, though.
So, they want I7 3770 for watchdogs. is my I54670k fucked? kind of worried. i was kind of looking forward to Watch Dogs. now im not sure if i should even bother.
No one can say for sure, but most games are not as CPU bound as recommended specs would have you believe.
PS4 900p, X1 792p, both 30fps
And, thus, a new record is set for generational console obsolescence.
:wtf: I like how 60fps isn't even mentioned.Quote:
In a Ubisoft blog post, Watch Dogs creative chief Jonathan Morin said it was more important for Watch Dogs to deliver "an amazing next-gen experience" than a 1080p resolution.
Jesus.
Eh.
Compare Ass Creed 1 to Black Flag.
This is a launch title. It will sell, the sequels will improve.
That's the wrong benchmark though. When AC1 came out, the 360 had to compete with, what, a 640 MB 8800 GTX? By the time Black Flag came out, 2GB GPUs were cheaper than the console. This generation there is no head start for the consoles.
#TeamPC
console war this gen is hilarious because both are sucking asswind on the multiplats
I think this is 30 FPS too
What's strange about this one is that it's also cross-generational. Maybe Ubisoft actually put in the work to make the current gen ones stand out but prioritized poorly.
Maybe, remember this was going to be a launch title, so there might not have been that much work on the new generation.
Things will get better but it's clear that PC is the way to go if you want 60 FPS this generation.
I'm only asking because I really don't know.
Right now, would I be able to build a PC from scratch for $500 and have it be comparable to an xbone's performance?
If there's a Microcenter by you buy the motherboard and CPU from there and you'll do even better.
The graphical specs on the game are definitely lower than I expected so that really sunk expectations of the game on that front but eh, whatever.
I'm sure it'll still look good on PS4 despite that.
So is this a good game or what? I don't give a shit what version has more lines of resolution. I just want a good game.
It's not out yet.
Why reward Ubisoft for their Bullshotting tactics?
Alright, but I'm just saying they keep pulling this bait and switch.
This is also ridiculous.
