I've heard the Ouya does 1080p without batting an eye, but I've only tested SD dragonball eps myself.
The surround sound issue will hopefully work itself out as the Ouya should be capable, it's just not implemented yet. I don't really care a great deal though, if I'm insisting on superior AV quaility from a movie I'm probably playing the bluray on the PS3 instead of downloaded stuff.

So the Ouya is pretty neat! I entered a dummy credit card number to bypass that bit of silliness and got Netflix and VLC on there, after much poking about. For some reason the apps run a hair larger than my tv screen, despite the Ouya front-end being the right size. Any word on what might be causing that? I haven't had time to research properly, but I did try an automatic screen-sizing setting in the menu and that didn't have much effect.

It's a known problem with the Ouya, it overscans a bit and some of the menus do not compensate for it. Your TV may have a setting to eliminate overscan, "Screen Fit" (as opposed to 16x9) mode on my TV is perfect.

lol.
People are setting up sockpuppet KickStarter accounts to rob Ouya blind.

Well, that kinda sucks. What doesn't suck is DraStic running perfectly on this thing.

Fuck Call of Duty: Ghosts, the real must-play FPS on 11-5 is Neon Shadow - now available on the OUYA! Bask in the GC-level textures, which to be fair, do at least look better than BF 4's beta.

This is what you get when you save, go to the home menu, and come back. So don't do that too much.

You can pre-order super-bright faceplates for the controllers now - http://shop.ouya.tv/products/controller-faceplates
And buy the system for $60 if you enter the promo code "Calamity" on OUYA.tv - http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...light=calamity

Hey Jemery, are you still messing around with this thing? I haven't turned mine on in over a year, but I discovered SPMC when I was fucking around with the GameStick. The Ouya is a more capable, better built machine, so in gonna bring it out of retirement instead and see if I can make Google Play work on the thing.
Any interesting developments, hacks, or games you know of from the past year?
-
So are you saying that the GameStick I just bought today was a mistake? :(
-
No, the two each have their own distinct advantages and disadvantages.
Gamestick:
Extremely small
Can load stock Android extremely easily (it's literally just throw a file on a SD card and run it)
Google Play Store (Ouya can have the Google Play store too but it's more of a PITA)
Runs almost any android application no problem
With a USB mouse and keyboard it makes a great tiny internet device
Multitasks
Ouya:
More powerful processor
Controller interface (The Gamestick with stock android requires a mouse)
Emulators run better
XBMC runs a little better (It's still pretty great on the Gamestick)
The UI isn't as nice as stock android IMO.
Can't multitask (so I can't have music playing in the background while I surf the net, for example.)
