IP: I think that's the thing - parents don't provide context for their kids. So they listen to language in music, repeat it, and have no idea why it's wrong. Doesn't mean that makes it A-OK, it means the kid lacks the context to understand why they shouldn't be saying that - something their parents ought to be teaching.
(then there are kids who know FULL WELL what the word means and use it religiously - go on XBL, play CoD and you'll hear it with full understanding of context)
some of that is chan culture. I don't really understand the sudden resurgence of racism online. I always assume its just deep trolling...but some are pretty dedicated to it.
A lot of racist comments made online are for shock value. Words have power because we give it to them, after all.
Kids act like pricks online because they have a certain degree of anonymity and can get away with it (and have parents that don't monitor that shit). We don't let my stepdaughter get online without supervision for any reason. If she needs it for school or wants to play Minecraft/watch Netflix, she uses the computer in the living room.
