Why is one kid "diabetic"?
To be honest, this was a pet peeve with my dad. I understood his "reasoning," but I just felt it was completely unfair/reinforcing gender roles/stereotypes. He would openly pester me about whether I was throwing to broads I was bringing home (FRIENDS), and then act completely uncool and hostile if my sister happened to have a friend that was a guy. Now she won't tell ANYONE if she's dating anyone. She shut us out of that part of her life.
Already stated why.
I would be overjoyed if my daughter's romantic life were a mystery to me. But the downside of having a relationship where we talk about everything is that we talk about everything.
My kids wait for Santa and still believe he's real (they're 9 and 5). They know the Easter Bunny doesn't exist, but they love our annual egg hunt. I don't let them watch anything inappropriate for their ages, but it is hard with modern technology. My older daughter practically begged me to let her watch me play Walking Dead, and she was genuinely interested in the story, but I covered her eyes or told her to leave the room when anything nasty happened. She was truly sad when Lee died and Clementine was left alone.
I think kids grow up too fast today, and anything I can do to let them keep their innocence a bit longer is what I'm going to do. I want them to enjoy their childhood, as they'll have the rest of their lives to worry about grown up shit.

We never had "the talk". We have had a 15 year long conversation. Things would get more detailed as time went on, but it all flowed along naturally. No uncomfortable confrontations.

Yeah, dunno about the sleepover thing. You kind of high-five your son but constantly fret over the daughter; that's just how it goes. I guess it's unfair. Oh well.
In Peru we don't really hide sex or where babies come from. I remember coming here and some kid was saying some stork BULLSHIT and I was like "what the fuck are you talking about?"
It isn't unfair at all. She's 15. He's 17.
I don't know if everything needs to be hidden. Watching monster movies I wasn't suppose to watch was part of the fun of being a kid.
Aliens used to scare the bujesus out me but I loved the Power Loader part. My dad would fast-forward through the scary parts. Sometimes we'd just watch the fight at the end.
I also liked naked girls at a young age and would try to find ways to see them as well. Like watching USA up all night just for that 5 second boob shot.
