I'm not sure how this doesn't have a thread, and, frankly, I thought it did, but the search disagrees.
In any case, this generation now ends on... October 8th. Also, Willem Dafoe is onboard.

Williem Dafoe is part of this now too.
The discussion was in the E3 thread.

Hoping the embed works... it was age restricted for no fucking reason.
Symbology.
This is one hell of a way to end a generation.
Adding more ammo to the games as art debate, this is the first game to have been selected to be part of the Tribeca Films Festival.
IT WAS A FIREFIGHT!
This is an entry into the "Oh Dear God Please Let Me Be A Movie!" category, and has nothing to do with Games as Art. Games trying as hard as they can to be another art form entirely isn't going to help them be taken seriously, except among people who haven't the slightest clue as to what a video game is.
James
Willem Dafoe is in it though. Video game. It's a video game confirmed.
So this is kind of like Heavy Rain gameplay wise or is it more interactive?
Apparently liking Gamestop on Facebook will get you demo codes, I on the other hand will do no such thing.
Still this game has me very curious as to how it'll meld the gameplay with the story, hopefully something both compelling and fun.
I played the demo last night. It looks nice and I liked the motorcycle segment, but unsurprisingly, it's an interactive movie from a failed filmmaker.
Although with how unwieldly the camera and the controls for Aiden can be, I'm not sure they could do any better than this pathetic excuse for a game. Especially when, at least for the part of the demo in the town with the SWAT teams, Aiden is nonsensically gimped with arbitrary limits on what it can affect.
I refuse to care about this game until someone tells me it doesn't fall apart in the third act like all their games.
So I think I really like this.
I think.
It improves on the Heavy Rain interface/controls in that most everything is just flicking the right stick towards stuff instead of awkwardly trying to mimic specific gestures all the time. And switching to Aiden and floating around to explore/fuck-around in the area is pretty damn incredible.
It's a beautiful game. Some of the effects when you're in Aiden mode are out of control. The story is really all over the place, both in quality and the fact that it constantly jumps back and forth over its timeline. Reviews are coming in right now and I'm not at all surprised at the mix of high & low scores. It's definitely not for everybody, but the high notes it has hit for me have been super effective.
Where does the M rating come from? I'm home alone with my daughter through at least Sunday, as my wife is with her father, who is not doing well. I'd like to start playing this, but it has to be at least somewhat age appropriate.
Ellen Page re-enactment of the male rape scene from Super.
I think it's pretty tame overall. No nudity or sex so far. I don't recall a ton of swearing but it's probably there. Mostly just some tame military violence and lots of people freaking out at your powers. I think you can smoke a joint at one point, whatever. There's one part a few hours in where you go into a science lab alone that's pretty violence though.
Ben Kuchera couldn't even make it through the game before reviewing it and saying how bad it was. That dude has been fucking up a lot lately. Too many kids.
I tried playing with the smartphone app last night.
Don't try playing this with the smartphone app.
I thought it was fine for Jodie.
But controlling Aiden with that thing is a nightmare.
The level on the train is where I tried the app. Lots of Aiden there.
I liked this game, but there is only maybe 6 hours of "gameplay" here. Even though I want to play more games like these, I couldn't recommend this at $60. I thought Heavy Rain had a lot more replayability.
The Sony rep at work was pushing this game like crazy because I had never even heard of it and I was mocking the fact that it looked like it was trying so hard to be a movie. It was literally like this guy was talking off of a script and trying to convert me to another religion. I doubt I'll ever play it, but I may watch the videos at some point.
reddit has some interesting shots of the game...
O'rly?

In my playthrough you didn't see anything. If you didn't take that screenshot I wouldn't trust that it's real.
It's real, but like the old hot coffee San Andreas thing.
So no one playing the game normally would be able to see it.
Somebody on my facebook page spoiled the SHIT out of this game.
I wasn't playing it, but a lot of TNL'ers who might also know her. Kinda shitty.
Please make note of the commas.
Spent the better part of last night playing this and holy crap it's amazing. It's way better than Heavy Rain overall, and the acting is uniformly fine - not a single "SHAUN! SHAAAUUNNNN!" moment yet.. The graphics are probably the best on the PS3, although The Last of Us might be more impressive due to how good it looks and it being a more interactive experience. I'm fine with this being QTE The Movie since the story is so good.
I'll YouTube it.
I'll get it for $15 someday.
Don't YouTube it, Redbox it.
You can definitely beat it in a couple of days. Even I could do that while dealing with a death in the family.
Ben Kuchera couldn't finish it for his review.
Penny Arcade people have always been garbage at video games, but at least Gabe and Tycho have admitted they're terrible. I doubt the same can be said of the rest of that crew.
too much bullshit in this demo
I think my total playtime was 6 hours.
I beat it last night. Honestly kind of underwhelmed. Needed more character development for everyone other than Jodie & Cole. Definitely needed way more context for Ryan & Jodie's relationship to make any sense. And Nathan's motivations towards the end were really hard to stomach and not in a interesting/surprising way.
At least it didn't go crazy/nonsensical by the end, and wrapped up quite nicely.
Didn't read your spoiler, but I'm actually shocked that it didn't get stupid. Maybe I will consider this then.
Is there tacked on MP? Season passes? Will this price drop fast since its so short?
Nah it's just the game. Wouldn't be surprised if the price drops soon given the lower reviews.
Oh yeah, I didn't feel at all that it was particularly short. It paces itself pretty well by jumping around its timeline.
Oh ok. I just looked on timetobeat and it says 10-12, which seems about right.
Everyone kept talking about it like it was super short.
It just SEEMS like it's super short because you're constantly progressing in the game. It's the least interactive, game I've ever played. It just rushes you from one plot point to the next. Therefore, the game feels super short because it doesn't challenge you in any way. I enjoyed the game though, it makes for an oddly compelling journey.
Another HDer release?
I'm tempted to send back my Amazon copy just in case.
I'm never buying another game again
just kidding, I didn't even get this because I bet it goes to worse than shit like every other game they do, ultimate stomach punch developers of all time
