I never played the original so no nostalgia factor here, but the game just looks SUPER floaty to me. I don't like that in my platformers. It's what killed any enjoyment I tried to get out of Little Big Planet. It's also what has me on the fence of Puppeteer.
So you didn't buy Super Luigi U then?
Actually, Mickey has some weight to him. It's about on part with the Genesis game without having to push B again in the air to assplant.
The only bit of weirdness is how enemies hurt Mickey. Instead of your standard touching = bad just 'cause, Mickey and the baddies actually bump and knock each other over! It threw me off at first, but I grew to like that there's an actual reason you're losing a precious star!
Also, for those of you worried about excess narration, the opening to the game is five minutes long and shippable. The game actually uses a storybook, Bastion-style of narration in lieu of Ducktales SURPRISE cutscenes. Only occasionally at that. It's actually really well done.
Framerate is kinda weird on PS3. The environment and scrolling are fine, but it's as if only the character models lose frames when memory is low. Neat trick. It's barely noticeable once you get used to it.
The game is still pretty slow-paced, though. You may collect items, but only one or two per stage are some hidden, collect it once to fill your list style of thing. Diamonds are still mostly just for points.
Seriously, play this. I'm actually surprised at how much work was put into it.

I don't think Kirby is as floaty as Genesis COI. I know this is very subjective, but I don't know how else to put it.
