Wow, damn, bad news.
Guess I'll do Undertale before this.

Yeah, it seems like a very good game, but it is indeed very very buggy. I haven't hit anything game breaking yet (fingers-crossed), but I've gotten weird animation bugs and two songs playing at the same time and shit that just makes this feel unpolished. I hope they keep working on it and polish it up, and it's otherwise beautiful and charming.
Is that all it was? I was hoping to give people more credit - if 'TeNapel's a monster!!!' only because 'is a Christian' then that's some seriously bigoted shit, being used to label another dude a bigot. If he's said some seriously fucked up shit though, but just tries his best to hide it in face to face meetings with fans, etc...I mean, that's a lot of work, but at least then I could understand the criticism.
Also interesting that plenty of other devs push their beliefs super overtly and get accolades (like Bioshock, DmC, Spec Ops: The Line, etc. etc.), than being told not to. Which makes me think the praise isn't from "being brave enough to dare put their beliefs in a game," but really just preaching to the choir. You know, the farthest thing from daring people with personal, outspoken views could do.
This is the problem. I loved The Neverhood, Skullmonkeys and of course Earthworm Jim. Then suddenly he had a website where the front page was nothing but his bizarre homophobic, racist right wing religious bullshit.
He's really quite disgusting and I just can't support anything he does. He's getting what he deserves by having to work on VeggieTales though.
I guess that's the thing - I've heard enough people who see a Christian and immediately cry 'racist, homophobe' without actually talking to them, and then...yeah, racist, homophobic people who are Christian. Since I've never seen his writing, only his art, Ratfist (that are 'boot strap' conservative, but not really racist), and met him at a con, that's all I have to go on.
I don't agree with TenNapel about a single thing but I still like him. I appreciate his work ethic.
This is really a non-issue.
I'm going to buy this, because all of the stuff of his I've experience has been great and apolitical.
I literally just always confuse Dave Perry and Doug TeNapel.
But...
I would be within my rights to not buy this new game solely because of his political beliefs.
I would even be within my rights to not buy this JUST because he was Christian, it would be wrong, but I can do that.
Bummer. Glad I didn't pre-order this on GOG.
