2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)

The conference schedule has been released for this year's E3. Everything is on June 10, and all times are CotUDT:

• Microsoft - 12:30 pm
• Ubisoft - 3:00 pm
• EA - 6:00 pm
• Sony - 9:00 pm

It'll be interesting to see what, if any, surprises are left with regard to the PS4 and "Xbox Fusion" at that point. The launch lineups would be one strong possibility, since I would think both companies would want to hold out as long as possible on that to avoid public slippage.

Of course, the entree at this year's E3 will hopefully be the unveiling of the consumer version of the Oculus Rift, a.k.a. the real next generation.

edit2: There is a pre-E3 Konami event at 1pm on Thursday, June 6.

I've always had fun watching these things live.

I'm looking forward to what RSI shows on Star Citizen and anything Oculus is doing. If they announce the attached version of the Rift, the show will be over.

I will be on vacation and miss all this nonsense, thankfully.

I look forward to the Nintendo Direct where Reggie's screaming "MY BODY IS READY" while getting brutally spanked by Iwata.

And they'll announce Luigi U is free, available at announcement, and DQ VII DS for my birthday in March.

Even though my passion for games dies more and more each year, I always look forward to E3 and the info it brings. I'm hopeful that I finally get some info on The Last Guardian (a laugh I know), maybe a Legacy of Kain/ Soul Reaver reboot or HD collection, and while I'm dreaming here I would love a hand drawn, 2D Metroid. Along with all of the info on the PS4 and the Xbox 720 of course.

Sega's Apple-partnered Dreamcast follow up should be tight, as should previews of Jet Grind 3 and PD Saga 2.

Speaking of tired gimmicks, Year 2000 called. It wants you back.

Ugh, that's going to make for a crowded Monday. Last year's Monday ended at a far more reasonable hour. Ah well, it's not like anyone goes to E3 to sleep.

In short, Nintendo has the most to gain, Sony has the most to lose, and Microsoft is the gaming equivalent of the 2009 World Series for me; I'm rooting for natural disasters.

I'm looking forward to the companies telling me what I want. I really don't know what to expect. I assume they have been squirreling away on next-gen stuff for years so I am hoping for a lot more than expected for odd-year franchises like have been seeing this gen since 2007.

Has anyone played the 3DS version of Sonic Kart? I saw it cheap but hesitated. The console one is awesome, and I'm hoping the handheld version was a decent port.

The 3DS one has gotten really terrible reviews. Supposedly it's just a really poor port.

Wouldn't Transformed technically be Sonic Kart 4?

I want what I usually want for E3: interesting surprises that I haven't anticipated.

As for specifics, I'd like Oculus Rift support on PS4, Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky announced for Steam with the second game also confirmed, a Vita price drop, Microsoft to completely back away from their shitty DRM, and anything from Nintendo that will make the Wii U actually worthwhile.

Nope. They took out GC support long before that thing came out.
All current slot-loaders lack the GC ports and mini-DVD loading mechanism.

One of the consistent and accurate leak sources have confirmed the 300 with 3 year sub model is not going to happen.

It's more of a hub field like Ocarina of Time, where each section will let the Belmonts collect a piece of the Baton of Wistfulness, and then reforge it to open the path to Dracula's castle by conducting their song upon the wind.

This may look insane but he's one of GAF's best rumor sources. Most of it is probably true.

Quickly:
- Microsoft is buying PS4 non-mentions at E3. If a publisher doesn't explicitly say that a game is Xbone exclusive, there's a PS4 version.
- Game rentals will be impossible with Xbone. Microsoft still has to come up with a good way to spin it but the news is incoming.
- The cloud is 100% DRM and Microsoft is pushing it on publishers, not the other way around. EA/Ubi like the idea, Activision less so.
- There's even more bad Xbone DRM news but it's hard to get corroborating evidence.
- Free to play games will be behind a Gold-style paywall.

- It's almost impossible to get information from Sony. No leaks! It doesn't look like they'll be charging for online play, though.

These are rumors about the Nintendo Direct tomorrow, this guy does not have the track record of the dude who gave us the Microsoft info, so maybe true maybe not.

Everything's been so vague hint wise so ill say something a little more exact about it. That 100 Year Guy is right on one thing-it's an enormously large, grand adventure in scope and size. Development began on Wii, not too long after Galaxy 2 was done. This adventure brings together a lot of levels, concepts, ideas, level types, mechanics and characters people have been begging for a long time for. Maybe you'll finally see Wart again this time ;) it makes very clever, imaginative use of the game pad but its definitely not forced. You can certainly play with traditional controls. Trailer and a giid look at game play on the Direct. Release set for late October. This October.

3. Zelda. First the bad news..it's a mid 2015 title at the soonest. They are debating between middle and Thanksgiving/Christmas 2015. Aim is to have most of if not all the game to look like that tech demo from 2 years ago. Story is the longest and grandest in the series. You MAY see some brief concept art at this E3 but they're looking more to fully unveil it early next year. They're debating between a few ideas as well as concepts and which they want to use. They want a familiar yet really fresh take on this for everyone. How soon you'll get it depends on that. They may again make a brief mention at this direct with the understanding it's still too early to show. No exact title yet. Just Zelda Wii U ATM.

4. Mario Kart U....this mighta changed but last impression I got from it is its basically a souped up Mario Kart 7...literally. Think that, online play if course and Miiverse integration slapped in. It should be out in time for this Christmas 2013. Aim was to bring out something for the U that's on the safe side that's guaranteed to help jump start the U. Some added tweaks and whistles here and there. Trailer plus some gameplay at the Direct.

5. Super Smash Bros. 4...As promised by Mr. Iwata and Reggie, it will finally be unveiled during this Direct. What you're about to see is...odd. How to describe...there will be an unveil trailer, and during this trailer a few characters in the. Roster will be announced. All the others are black shadowy silhouettes. You should get a good idea who some of them are, others will be "Who the hell's that supposed to be!?" The full roster will be gradually unveiled from now till release. Release is aiming for Thanksgiving 2014. It might slip to closer to Christmas though. The aim is to launch both the 3DS and U games same day, so they'll do what it takes to get that to happen. This is the big 2014 game for Nintendo. 3DS version is further along than the U one. That one will also be shown on th Direct. Some parts of U version done, others still cooking. Coding, etc set to start in earnest this fall. It looks great ;)

6. General Wii U...possibly price cut, they really would rather not but they understand this nay be the only way to re jump start it. Possible Ambassador Program 2, looking at a few neat ideas for that. They will attempt one last time to very clearly communicate what the U is and isn't. They want to get people excited again and show good value.

X and Yarn Yoshi will have trailers. Both 2014 games. SMT x Fire Emblem is still too soon to show, but it's a really weird ass collaboration project-will be in a good way for fans of both,

One final huge surprise.,.its both a oh hell this makes sense and with kind of thing rolled into one. The aim is to introduce it fully in Fall of Winter. Timing still being decided. May or may not be announced at the Direct.

In a later post he says that the game Retro is working on is Star Tropics U. Some of it sounds plausible and some of it sounds like fanboy bullshit. I thought I would throw the rumors up here though. They need to get Retro's game, Mario Kart U, and 3D Mario out before this Christmas AND drop the price. Really they need more games than that, but I'm not sure they can pump out that many. Least we already know Game and Wario, Pikmin 3, and Wonderul 101 are around the corner. I figured the earliest for Zelda U would be 2014 so again some plausible aspects to this rumor. He doesn't say this is everything, in later posts he seems to hint that there's more. He also claims that Sony's conference is going to be INSANELY AMAZING tonight, and will make everyone forget about MS's this morning. All Sony has to do is show games and say no to this DRM bullshit MS is pushing and that's easily achievable. Hopefully we'll get some more info on Bayonetta 2 finally.

I still don't even understand what a Wii U is. It's a Wii handheld? Nintendo did a great job promoting and making casuals (me) want to buy, or even know what the fuck it is. They are supporting two handheld systems at the same time?

Also, predictions where no real info is announced. Just hints. Dumb.

So, as I've said before, they completely blew their load in January and can't get most of this stuff out anytime soon. If the Wii U Mario Kart is just a port of the already obsolete 7, that's even worse than I thought though.

Only 2013 matters, so, going both by common sense and the rumors above, that means no new Zelda, no SSB, no Yoshi, no SMT X FE, etc. So they're riding a new Mario and ports of MK7 and Wind Waker? It better be a $100 price drop. Anything less is pointless.

All Nintendo has to do to get me to buy a Wii U is say "Price Drop Bitches", and I'll buy one as soon as it does.
