Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures (PC, PS3, Wii U, 360)

When he's not saving PacWorld from Betrayus, ruler of the Netherworlds, Pac-Man enjoys spending time with his friends, Spiral and Cylindria, who bond with the legendary hero as they "cope with the challenges of being a teenager."
Ghostly Adventures will tie into a new DisneyXD animated series produced by Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad. Pac-Man, who fights for "Friendship, freedom, and the future," will eat and fight ghosts, sometimes with the aid of new powers, one of which transforms him into an iguana-dinosaur-Pac-Man.
I haven't seen the game trailer on YouTube yet, though it's at the IGN link above. Here is the one for the cartoon:
edit: Geo found the game trailer:
This is certainly consistent with the Tekken level of quality we expect from non-Ridge Racer Namco games.

22 seconds is all I could take of that video. I swear I tried for more but my brain started growing spikes inside my skull in an "anything to make the pain stop" gesture.
The game trailer on IGN didn't exactly thrill either, but at least it looks like a harmless, if terrible kids game.

General Petreus must be pleased.

Looks like there could be some neat ideas in there, but those character designs are killing any desire I might have to even try this.

Namco is completely irrelevant.

Every once in a while Namco does a Pac-Man CE thing, and they become relevant for a short period until releasing 12 new Tales games. Someday I'd love to see them do a CE-style Bosconian, but I'm not holding my breath.

If this sells enough to its target audience, you'll probably see more CE games. It's how this works.

Hey guys. Skylanders made a lot of money. Namco wants some of it.

You know what game is pretty good?
Tekken.

My problem with Tekken in the early days was that it just felt like a Sega knockoff, like Time Crisis vs Virtua Cop. Virtua Cop's still better. Daytona vs Ridge Racer, too.

I only watched a couple minutes of it. i learned that smoking is bad, but if you're surrounded by smoke all you have to do is inhale deeply and it'll clear right up.
This thing is awful even compared to the terrible old Pac-Man cartoon. This is like Saturday Supercade bad...
Reminds me of the Pac-Man World games on the PS2 only it looks...I guess a little better. Meh.

Pakirby. Bleh.
Finch's Swapnotes have taught me to fear Kirby's wrath. Namco apparently is not so lucky.

One thing I did like about PM2 was making Pac-Man really fucking pissed. Just continually hitting him with the slingshot is a quick and easy way, but there are others that are more amusing. Jack the mailbox, watch him close it, repeat a few times until he loses it. LOL
And Pac-Man gets owned in some truly hilarious or bizarre ways.
That game was rad. I like how it was just named Pac-Man 2. No publisher has the balls to do that these days. It'd be like turning Battlefield 4 into a loli dating sim.
I was PISSED when Namco didn't buy the WWE license from THQ in the bankruptcy.

I should really have Kuma face Mark Henry in Fire Pro Returns. Given that Namco actually published TNA's mobile/tablet game, I wouldn't be too shocked if they got the license for console stuff soon.
Namco is still not irrelevant, but where the hell is a new Time Crisis? Before this series is retired, they need to hit up Nextech for another one and show Wild Dog going down for good. Get Takeshi Miura to crank out another soundtrack, right down to some epic final boss BGM rivalling the Final Battle theme in TC4. German choir + cathedral bell = WIN. The choir gets an encore for the new credit roll theme on PS3 TC4- good stuff. Take the level of object destruction in Razing Storm and double it. I don't care if it's on System 468 (Likely name for PS4 hardware IMO) or Taito Type X3. TC5 has just gotta happen.
When there's a Ridge Racer 8 on next-gen, they need to avoid the same errors that happened on the Vita version. 30 FPS? Three tracks? Five cars? Strike 3, Yerrr out! I doubt that it'll be like this, if they want it to go for $60-70. Who knows. Right now, this series is on thin ice in my book and needs a miracle.

Even if you're insane and don't like Tekken, you've got to like either Ni No Kuni or Dark Souls, right?
Project X Zone looks awesome too.

I like their Noir arcade stick layout, although even that is borrowed from Sega.

lol So you're giving Namco credit for Level 5 and From Software's games now?

Yes. Namco is smart enough to bring them over, and give them (in Ni No Kunis case) great localizations.

I guess when the bar is that low, some amount of success is inevitable.
