Ridiculous.
I would never play this type of game on an ipad/cell phone, I'd rather just play it on a console with a controller.
ITT: Old people
(I am one of them)
I will play this but I'm still anxiously awaiting an announcement of a full sequel.
If it plays similarly to HR (or any DEx for that matter) then touch controls is absolutely a non-starter. This isn't the same as a touch Cave game, which is already 10% of the game that the real ones are. It's utterly useless.
The Fall indeed.
Android port with controller support plz.
EDIT: Oh, already confirmed, timing to be announced.
Prediction: This will be announced for Vita during Sony's conference on Monday night.
more like Deus Ex: The Fail amirite
What does Mr. Riot have to do with deus ex?
Am I the only one that thinks this looks awesome? I don't get why people are so butthurt about this. Dead Space mobile was awesome, and I don't see why this can't be either.
Controls be shitty as hell
They aren't necessarily though. Some of these games control fine. Like I said Dead Space worked fine, Dead Trigger works fine, Mass Effect was fine. Sure, it's better if you hook up a GameKlip and play it with a controller, but either way they're decent games, worth playing.
Not sure how iOS Dead Space worked fine, the controls are nowhere near as accurate as the console games.
I hated the controls on Dead Space and Mass Effect mobile. Maybe they're better on an ipad, but I couldn't do it on my phone.
I had zero problem controlling those games on my phone. I mean is it a substitute for a console game? Of course not. But they're still a lot of fun.
I'm with Frog on this. A PC game (Deus Ex has never and will never be a console game) shoved onto a tablet or phone would be a disaster, but that's not what this is. It's a ground up build designed to take advantage of a completely different platform, which is a formula that has worked before.
I don't have time for that. I have too many games that control well.
They said this plays like DEx HR, so I won't assume that it's built from the ground up to take advantage of a different platform (which has no advantages from an action game standpoint, so whatever)
The only advantage is Lowered Expectations (tm)
This one plays on the thing you have in your pocket all day. You have time for this.
I'm at work all day, working. I don't have time for this.
You take dumps like everyone else.
I swear the problem with this is that it looks too good/too close to the real thing. People are acting like they've had a console/PC sequel stolen from them and crammed on mobile, rather than just getting an awesome mobile game.
Well, I was hoping that this was an announcement at E3 for a game on next gen platforms, a sequel to my favorite game ever. Instead it's a god damn iPhone game. So yeah, a little disappointed.
What is with people acting like this is something they made instead of a new console/PC title? This is just bonus.
The new Deus Ex sequel will be announced when they're good and ready and that timeline isn't going to be affected by some mobile project being made by another team within the studio.
No, it isn't, I went from excited to bullshit. Negative bonus.
If you're going to announce an iPhone game, just say DEUS EX IPHONE so I can ignore it and then not be upset
Deus Ex: Fuck You Joust Edition
I honestly don't really care that much about the fact that it's a tablet game and I think most people that are pissed are really just hanging onto that stigma that isn't really valid anymore where the mobile game is always just a slap in the face to fans of a franchise.
I'm not crazy about playing first person shooters on my ipad but I could see this turning out well. Do we know who is developing it?
pft
If Valve started teasing a new 'Half-Life' without the real game and then said OH it's a shitty iPhone game, people would be going clownshit and setting fire to the HQ. I am just mildly annoyed.
That's how I play games on my couch as well.
I've been taking Metamucil four times a week for the last few months.
If you were to see the sheer volume of orange jello that I squeeze out, you wouldn't call me an amateur, I assure you.
And yes, because of that, the sessions are as short as they are bountiful.
keep going I'm so close
video:
I'm a huge fan of using dual analog on a screen where my fingers are in the way and my control loses its center point and then pressing the center of the screen for takedowns
Sounds like a great experience, smooth gameplay
Did you seriously never see the first post in this thread?
lol, I never saw the video, I just subconsciously ignored it
man I sure can call them, I predicted 100% shit and that's what it was
Ready your body, Joust. This is coming July 11.
Ouch: 5/10, and the controls don't seem to be the major issue.
good.
The Fail
don't pass go don't collect $
TouchArcade gave it 4.5 stars, talk about differing standards.
The way they talk about the control options makes me feel like it's 1978 and everyone is trying to figure out if we should use paddles, sticks, cross-pads, trackballs, etc. It's just nonsense.
I watched the trailer on TouchArcade, and it was just hilarious. Cliche city.
"WE'RE KILLERS, BEN! IT'S WHAT WE'RE BEST AT!"
I don't think the dedicated handheld market has too much to fear, at this rate.
I have to give the developer credit for this though: Guns are disabled on jailbroken devices.
Joust's Game of the Year for 2013 is coming to PC.
I can dig it. I liked the Android version for what it was but the lack of controller support really hurt the gunplay. Other than that, it was really impressive, and not as boring as Missing Link.
Finally it might be worthwhile, instead of having people lower their expectations all the way through to China because 'Deus Ex on the go'
Out now.
when Steam Achievements and Trading Cards are selling points, look out
This thing is getting craptacular reviews, mobile gaming can die in a fire
I haven't seen any professional reviews yet. It seems like the game's buggy, hopefully they fix that.
I understand the appeal of porting stuff like this to real game machines but they really should resist. This may be perfectly acceptable on mobile but on PC or console it is compared to stuff like HR and it doesn't measure up at all. It just pisses off your fans.
I picked this up out of morbid curiosity (and because it came bundled with a copy of Deus Ex GOTY). Imagine Human Revolution with PS2 graphics and almost none of what made that game fun and you've got The Fall. The story is kinda interesting but the voice acting makes it exceeding difficult to care. Seems like it's more or less a straight port with no real frills. The in-game tutorial even encourages you to move around using the "virtual thumbsticks". Whoops.
