Lords of the Fallen (PC, PS4, One)

PS4 doesn't have a Netflix app? Seriously?

It does.

MechDeus was making the joke that the only value the PS3 has at this point is as a Netflix machine.

People say there's no originality in gaming, it's all sequels and remakes. In that vein, it's truly refreshing to see a game like Lords of the Fallen take the template of a wildly successful game and just shamelessly rip it off, delivering a watered down clone designed for maximum profitability. It's actually heart warming.

For anyone expecting Dark Souls size/length out of this game, you'd better put that thought aside. It's not the shortest game in the world—I'm at the end boss after about 14 hours—but the size and scope of the world are shockingly small.

That particular honour goes to the PC version of Lords of the Fallen. It's a demanding title, but even middling hardware should be able to achieve a more stable 30fps than the consoles - and without the intrusive tearing. It's just a shame that the finished product ended up shipping with so many performance problems as the game itself is actually rather well made and definitely worth playing. For now, we can only hope that Deck13 concentrates on optimising console performance.

The judder on the PS4 version is the only thing that bothers me. If it's worse on the XBONE, I don't even want to see that.

Agreed completely. This game is really good. It's definitely rough around the edges though. It's also nothing like Dark Souls other than your character movement and juggling the stamina/potions. None of the tension that made Dark Souls great (part 1 at least) is there in this game.
